Managed, maintained, backed up and updated Oracle databases. Introduced Oracle 8, 9i and built one Oracle 10g database. Developed numerous SQL scripts to load various spread sheets for use by both Management and Client personnel.

Contract Oracle DBA – ESD Infrastructure Team

Developed, implemented and monitored standard database shell scripts for export, Rman backups, monitoring databases and alert log reporting. Developed standardized server scripts for managing space, maintaining logs and maintenance routines. Established standards for server environments.

Tested and implemented standard set of scripts on 140 database and 40 servers.

Published Documentation on database standards which was presented and accepted.

Installed Oracle 9i on several servers and built 9i databases.

CHEVRON-TEXACO, Houston, Texas 1983-2002

Oracle DBA – Technical Infrastructure Team 1999-2002

Designed, developed, implemented, administered, monitored and supported non-SAP Oracle databases for Texaco’s conversion to SAP. Oracle based application included Premas, Tobin Land Management Suite, Ariba e-procurement system, FileNET archiving and document imaging system, CA’s AutoSys Job scheduler. All systems ran on HP-UX 11.0 64 bit servers with XP-256 and XP512 Disk Storage arrays.

Built and supported 27 Oracle non-SAP databases on six UNIX servers.

Designed, created, refreshed, supported and managed system environments to meet the needs of the ChevronTexaco ERP merger and consolidation activities. All services delivered on time despite a three-fold increase in the final environments versus the original plan.

Improved user performance 400% and eliminated rollback errors during revenue cycles by redesigning and rebuilding the PriceWaterhouse/Coopers redo log and rollback structure.

Modified Oracle OFA configuration for the production environments so each database had automatic failover capability with HP’s Service Guard. System delivered one month early.

Streamlined the refresh process – loaded production data into test, develop, and acceptance databases. Reduced the reload time in half while increasing the size of the load six fold.

Tuned the databases and disk space use on a regular schedule.

Successfully migrated eleven databases from 7.3.4.1 to 8.1.5 and then on up to Oracle 8.1.7, migrated two databases for oracle 8.0.x to Oracle 8.1.7, migrated six databases from Oracle warehouse. The 7.3.4.1 direct to 8.1.7. Built all of the associated Net 8 components. Databases ranged in size from 17 Gig up to 140 Gigabytes.

Oracle DBA – Decision Support & Data Warehouse Team 1994-1999

Designed, developed, built, administered, monitored and supported Oracle databases for Texaco North American Production HQ in Houston. Started as simple Client/Server concept to provide access to data from mainframe DB2 databases and grew in to a full Financial Data Warehouse. The database was updated nightly and made available to the users by 6:00 each weekday morning. Oracle knowledge and proficiency led supporting 9 more databases on 3 different UNIX platforms.

Initiated, analyzed, designed and implemented the first partitioned Oracle database at Texaco. The resulting database provided up to a 20-fold increase in performance.

Developed the prototype for PC Polis (PC version of Production On Line Information System) and did the initial implementation. Analyzed Texaco Reserve data to develop a PC Reserves Information

Acquired a small IBM UNIX server from another Texaco entity as Upstream’s first server. Analyzed and projected future needs and acquired a larger IBM J30 server with 108 GB of disk space. Filled the dual role Oracle DBA and Unix System Admin for 26 months.

Developed and implemented backup, recovery and remote backup storage procedures; used these backups to successfully recover from every situation.

Proactive administration, preventative maintenance and monitoring of database performance resulted in the databases being available 99.43% of the advertised time.

Resolved major problems with the installation of new Sun Servers running Sun Solaris, with Storage TEK disk array. Provided scripts that were used by Colorado Storage TEK personnel to verify both the problems existence and the final resolution

Analyst – Louisiana Minerals Board Lawsuit team 1992-1994

Reporting Team Chief for the resolution of a multi-billion dollar lawsuit filed by the State of Louisiana against Texaco claiming underpayment of royalties covering a 22-year period.

Programmer/Analyst – Texaco materials system 1991-1992

Built small Oracle databases for test and development of Oracle Forms on PC’s. Oracle Forms Developer.

Accepted code was transferred to VAX equipment for production.
