Professional Work Experience

JSU FastStart Program (1 term): Teacher’s assistant- A summer semester remedial program for students to train and have adequate study skills for the upcoming 1st year of college. Students work in a lecture and tutorial environment. The task for teacher’s assistant is to lead a 1 hr tutorial for each class, help facilitate lecture material, grade assignments, carry out office logistics, and assist students in assignments.

JSU Learning to Mastery (3 terms): A literacy and language program for 4-5 year old students. Spanning over a 10 week period, gives children an enriched exposure to reading and comprehension resulting in an accelerated learning progress.

University of Alabama English Language Institute Tutor (2semesters): Tutors work in a study hall designed for International students to receive assistance for worksheets and upcoming papers. The job of the tutor is to guide the student, not offer full expository information, to complete their assignment. This is done by editing papers alongside students to show mistakes, explaining the content of worksheet for clear instruction, and guide students in conversation practice for fluent speech.

China Kindergarten teacher in International School (1 and a half years): This job includes teaching a handful of 5-6 year old kids in mornings to build English speech and listening skills, phonics and reading. The teacher must prepare fully for the class by facilitating lessons, exercises, learning activities, and book material for each class. In afternoons their are various classes taught weekly for student ages 7 through 14 years old.

Other Work Experience

-Dining Restaurant Waiter for “The Cypress Inn”(4 months): served food to tables for lunch and dinner, cleaned kitchen and dining rooms

-Delivery Driver for “Jimmy Johns”(5 months): driving sandwiches to designated locations in impeccable timing during the 3rd shift hours.

-Horse Trainer and Caretaker (1 year): train and tame draft horses to be compliant to humans in walking, trotting, wagon pulling and various other activities. Maintain excellent hygiene and health for the horses by feeding, administering antibiotics, required medicine, bathing, cleaning hooves, washing feet, grooming, and sanitizing the stall area.

-Farm Maintenance (different frequencies over the span of 8 years): manual labor jobs include shoveling dirt, brush cutting, cleaning, burning brush, gathering wood, repairing building infrastructure

-Home belongings and furniture re-locator: working for a moving company taking furniture from one house to another.
