Between the Hospital, The veterinary hospital and being a lab courier has definitely made me love anything with animal’s, customer service, receptionist, data entry and anything secretarial. I am best at multitasking and dealing with people! Customers, Clients, patients or on the phone with them. I always make sure they get out what they have to say, if I need to ask a couple questions, I do it kindly but swiftly, so I can answer the next call. I learn super fast while being trained right. The Veterinary Hospital and the Switchboard at Middlesex Hospital are hands down the most busy, crazy, always something to do and learn. That’s when I learned how to be patient and kind and that takes you a long way. Treat them the way you would want to be treated. Everyone has a bad day, night or weekend. No matter what you check that at the door and do your job like always! Authorized to work in the US for any employer
Work Experience
Nanny (Part-time)
Dr Amy and Dr Jeffery Brown - Glastonbury, CT
August 2018 to July 2019
Unfortunately this was a temporary job. I took care of two children ages 8 and 10. During the day while they were at school, I did their laundry and do the grocery shopping or any other quick errands they asked. The had housekeeping come on Tuesday’s so I did not have to clean. Even though I didn’t need to clean, every Friday I would always make sure the house was clean and vacuumed. I wasn’t asked to do it. They were very appreciative because that’s the more time they could be with the kids over the weekend Instead of picking up or vacuuming!
I would get the kids off the bus 4 out of the 5 days. I had every Wednesday off, I would put in approximately 30 hours a week, some times more when asked. I fed them dinner helped with homework. Then we were off daily to activities. Such as baseball, softball, soccer, swimming, tennis, basketball. Also orchestra and choir practice. I absolutely loved these kids and job! The parents were really sweet and as much as possible they were involved with in activities. The kids and I cried and hugged on my last day!
Switchboard Operator
MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL - Middletown, CT
May 2004 to March 2009
This job was very challenging to learn, but once I trained I did awesome at this job! Answering every incoming call into the hospital, transferring to patients rooms to the nurses stations, the OR, ER. Answering any questions someone had that called. Overhead paging was a HUGE part of this job. Paging Doctors, Nursing stations, and every incoming emergency overhead that either security would call in or any employee in the hospital would call for. Dr Strong, Dr Pyro, Dr Ida and many more to get security, the police or fire department when needed. All while answering staying calm and making sure the regular incoming calls were answered too. Everything was done by computer. I worked 2nd shift 3-11 but would work first or third whenever needed. Holidays, weekends were a must seeing the Switchboard was a 24/7 office.
Lab courier
MIDDLESEX HOSPITAL - Essex, CT
January 1999 to February 2000
I worked 20 hours a week. I would go in every morning at 8:00 Monday-Friday and in the lab separate and file all results and paperwork that I had to deliver for the day. I traveled to at least 15-20 offices a day. I really loved the people in the lab and got to know the office staff very well of everyone I delivered to.
Receptionist/Assistant
PIEPER-OLSON VETERINARY HOSPITAL - Middletown, CT
October 1993 to July 1997
This job changes my life! I started as a receptionist. Lots of multitasking with the phones, clients and admitting patients (animals).
I absolutely love animals as well. Within a year and a half I was starting to assist in office calls with the doctors, filling prescriptions and helping in the back room assisting with anything that came up. Which was a lot! Working for Dr Robert Olson was such a privilege. He’s one of the kindest person, to clients and his patients. Always calm and a soothing voice. I learned all of my “Talk and treat them how you would want to be treated if you came in with your animals”. I absolutely loved working in office calls with him as well as his wife, Dr Nunez. They weren’t just an amazing couple that were married. They conducted themselves as professionals at all times with the staff as well as to each other. I have seen and learned so much from Piper Olson Veterinary Hospital! Nanny
Dr Suman Huded and her husband Dr Prakash Huded - Haddam, CT September 1992 to October 1993
They had three little boys that were completely adorable! The oldest was 9 then 7 and Vivek was 3 years old. They were all in my sisters program at one time. When I was hired by the Huded's, Vivek was still in my sisters class. I would pick Vivek up first Monday-Friday around 2:00. Then I would go pick
Gautom and Chetan at The Independent Day School in Middletown. They lived in Haddam and so did I at the time. Some days I would have to bring them to piano practice. But when we would get to their house, they immediately would have to do their homework and study. I would feed them an easy dinner. They could watch a half hour of tv a night. Then the older two would take a bath or shower Vivek always wanted his mom to give him a bath (which was totally understandable, he didn't see them very much) then we would play for a li le while and I would read to each one of them, they all got to pick what book they wanted. Then by 7:00 or so one of the parents would come home. On the days they didn't have piano or homework we would be playing outside most of the time. They loved to play, throw the football. When they had no school I would be with them the whole day and we would have a blast I remember I asked if I could carve their first pumpkin ever and the parents agreed. They were so excited and happy! Omg just remembering that makes me smile! Afternoon teacher
NORTHWEST CHILDREN'S CENTER - Cromwell, CT
February 1990 to August 1991
My sister was and is head teacher of the 3 year old program there. I worked anywhere from the infant/ toddler room to the 3 year old and four year old programs. But I mainly worked for my sisters class. I loved it! I would play outside when I came in the afternoons, then have them come in have snack, read to them then they would all get on their cots for rest time. As soon as that was over we would be back outside playing until the very last parent came. If it was raining or snow we would always have arts and crafts, games and of course more reading! They loved to be read too. Education
