Research Experience
Research Department at Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne, IN July 2016 – August 2016
Preceptor: Gordon Bokhart.
oInitiated and completed a trial protocol for a medical device. Worked closely with the primary investigator of the trial as well as representatives from the pharmaceutical company throughout the development process. Furthermore, presented the completed protocol to the Lutheran Hospital’s Institutional Review Board. I was able to answer all of the questions and concerns that the board members had and as a result the protocol was approved and the trial is currently underway.
Manufacturing Department at Eli Lilly and Company Indianapolis, IN January 2017 – February 2017
Preceptor: Steph Levine, PharmD
oCreated several process flow documents for preparing sanitization agents in the manufacturing department. Worked with representatives from several departments who were responsible for making the sanitization agents to create a document that will be useful for everyone involved in the process.
Laboratory Assistant at Manchester University College of Pharmacy September 2014 – June 2016
Advisor: Sidhartha Ray, Ph. D
oStudied biochemical methods, assays, and procedures involved in the analysis of drug induced organ toxicity (hepatotoxicity and nephrotoxicity). Utilized techniques in bright field microscopy, western blot, gel electrophoresis and spectrophotometry to perform in vitro assessment of drug toxicity. I learned in detail about the apoptotic and necrotic processes that cells undergo when exposed to high doses of hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic drugs. Assisted in teaching laboratory portion of an elective course in Toxicology at Manchester University College of Pharmacy. Responsible for preparing laboratory area, explaining and running experiments with the students.
