M.S. in Chemical Engineering (4+1 Program) Graduation: May 2020 Cleveland State University, Washkewicz College of Engineering, Cleveland, OH GPA: 3.9

Master’s Thesis: Studying the self-propulsion and clustering behavior of active colloidal systems, specifically the motility phenomena of platinum-coated polystyrene microparticles in hydrogen peroxide. Publications: Charged Nanoparticles Quench the Propulsion of Active Janus Colloids - ACS Omega, 2019; DOI: 10.1021/acsomega.9b00765

B.S. in Chemical Engineering Graduation: Dec 2019

Cleveland State University, Washkewicz College of Engineering, Cleveland, OH GPA: 3.6

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

Propulsion and Self-Assembly of Active Janus Particles Cleveland State University Cleveland, OH May 2018 – May 2020 Washkewicz College of Engineering

• Fabricated anisotropically coated Janus particles and designed a system to observe cluster formations of active colloidal suspensions.

• Gained experience working with polymers and studied their effect on propulsion.

• Learned different microscopy techniques used to study colloidal particles (Optical, electron).

• Developed a program to analyze cluster formations and collective behavior (MATLAB).

• Contributed majorly on a published journal on the effects of depletion forces on the propulsion of Janus particles.

o Charged Nanoparticles Quench the Propulsion of Active Janus Colloids, ACS Omega, 2019; DOI: 10.1021/acsomega.9b00765

Adaptation of Freshwater Algae (Scenedesmus dimorphous) to Marine Conditions Cleveland State University Cleveland, OH May 2017 – May 2020 Washkewicz College of Engineering

• Grew algae in bioreactors and 1-Liter glass bottles while maintaining a sterile environment.

• Extracted and separated algae for further inoculation and lipid analysis.

• Cultivated algae successfully in salinity levels of 1.015 total specific gravity and observed growth in conditions up to 1.020 (seawater is roughly 1.025-1.030).

• Contributed to developing a growth model for the Chlorella sorokiniana microalgae. I helped develop a program for cell counting, along training the current research team leading the project. AICHE National Student Design Competition (NSDC)

Cleveland State University Cleveland, OH Feb 2019 – March 2019

• Participated in the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AICHE) National Student Design Competition (NSDC) my senior year and placed as the top design within my university’s class.

• Designed the upstream and downstream facilities of a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant for the production of a variety of Monoclonal Antibody (Mab) products.

• Based design on current bioprocess growth model data of Avastin (bevacizumab) using Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells.

• Designed a plant capable of producing 1000 kg of product per year over 16 batches. The design included plans to support multiple cell lines while adhering to cGMP and environmental regulations, complete with plant layout and SOP.

• Designed and priced all equipment used within the upstream and downstream facilities. Integrated Design Experience (IDE)

Cleveland State University Cleveland, OH Jan 2017 – Dec 2018

• Designed the upstream and downstream facilities of a gas-to-liquid, methane conversion plant based on the Utica and Marcellus shale formations in Ohio as a part of the undergrad program at CSU.

• Used ASPEN to design the various reactors commonly used within GTL plants (POS, WGS, FT) and the separation towers needed to produce naphtha, diesel and paraffins from methane gas. WORK EXPERIENCE
