EDUCATION
University of California, Irvine Irvine, California Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering Expected [June 2022]
GPA: 3.286
Dean's Honor List in Spring 2019 & Winter 2020
Los Alamitos High School Diploma, honors list (GPA: 4.33) EXPERIENCE
Design of Biomaterials with Chemistry, Guan Lab – Undergraduate Research Aug. 2019 – Present Identified denpols that efficiently deliver small interfering RNAs (siRNA) to cells; functions as a synthetic vector to allow technologies like CRISPR gene-editing, meanwhile taking measures to minimize its toxicity. Disability Services Center (DSC) – Driver/Test Proctor September 2018 – Present Provide transportation to and from classes for people with a wide range of disabilities. On top of assisting the test taking process, I’m in charge of distributing exams taken in the DSC. Jos A Bank Clothiers – Management/Key Holder Position June 2018 – August 2019 Responsible for opening and closing the store. Developed strong communication skills and attention to detail by working with associates/clients to engineer a suit that best fits their style and taste. RESEARCH PROJECTS
Multivalent Polyamine Project December 2019 – April 2020 Synthesized the triethyl carboxylate product needed to create a molecule that delivers siRNAs to cells. Tested under extremely hot and cold conditions to find the optimal route of synthesizing a functional vector for technologies like CRISPR-Cas9. Delivery method based on the theory of cellular engineering: positively charged denpols are attracted to the negatively charged Phosphate backbone of DNA/RNA. Analysis requires skills such as operating an Auto Column (ISCO), Rotary Evaporator, Proton/Carbon NMR, and ESI Mass Spec/Water LCMS. – Basic knowledge using Matlab, Top Spin, and ChemDraw. Analysis of Sulfate in Seawater May 2017 – June 2017 Designed the procedure for colorimetric analysis of sea water. In charge of collecting sea water (Seal Beach), researching similar experiments, creating the procedure, and performing the analysis. Although Sulfate is a relatively harmless ion, human kinds’ industrial repercussions affect the concentration of sulfate in bodies of water across the world. Through preparing countless dilutions and utilizing colorimetry I was able to quantify the concentration of Sulfate in Seal Beach to be below the 2600 ppm (theoretical concentration in Seawater) INTERESTS & HOBBIES
