To Whom It May Concern:
I highly recommend David Slater for employment within your company or a partner in your business. I’ve had the pleasure of working with David for almost 8 years. In that time, I have watched David grow and develop from a talented, ambitious young draftsman, and into a full-blown leader rallying cross functional teams across the entire company. To see that type of growth in such a short time is a big part of what makes David so special. He’s got an entrepreneurial spirit that pushes him to greatness, and I have loved watching him obtain it.
In particular, I would love to highlight the role David played in the most critical project in the history of our company. In late 2016, I began to realize that our company needed to embark on a crazy ambitious research and development project. Our core product family (which we refer to as “classic”) had some outdated technology that made it vulnerable to code changes in core markets, and its performance data on the energy and structural side limited our ability to sell in colder or heavier wind markets. The challenge was to develop a new family of products in which the chassis of the design would be energy efficient enough to satisfy strict energy codes, but also strong enough to get our product into hurricane impact zones. The other challenge, we wanted to launch (14) products in just one calendar year. The ambition was crazy. No one had ever achieved anything like it in our industry. Enter David. He not only ran the entire 7000 Series Program, he completely revolutionized how we do project management for our company. He brought discipline, empathy, best in class project management techniques, creativity, uncanny problem solving, and a swagger that would be critical in all the hard days (of which there were many). David was my key leader to drive this project forward and over the finish line. Not only did he make it happen, he brought the project in on time and under budget, a near remarkable feat. I watched him grow as a leader immensely in this time, and I didn’t hesitate to tell him that I saw him as a future CEO of a company. He has that type of potential. As he enters this new season of his career, I am so excited to watch him grow and prosper. David’s ambition will take him as far as he wants to go. David’s intelligence will prepare him for any challenge. David’s character will make any culture he joins or creates a strong one. David’s humor will make him a lovable leader for everyone who needs levity on a hard day. David has my highest recommendation, and I have no doubt you will love working with him. Sincerely,
Scott Gates
