Project #1:

JCPenny – Fusion

Description:

The Fusion application is a unification of two existing legacy applications Commerce Service Center (CSC) and FindMore. CSC and FindMore applications have a lot of features in common with many performance challenges in the current legacy environment. There is a strong strategic push within JCPenney to move away from Oracle ATG platform to a more cloud based micro services architecture for flexibility, scalability & reduced cost of ownership. In this new initiative, a greenfield application named Fusion consolidates these applications using the latest JCPenney’s Yoda and Microservices architecture. Role:

Project #2:

Macy’s – Search and Browse

Description:

Macy’s is one of the world’s largest retail outlets with huge online presence. Browse and Search project’s objective was to modularize the existing Macy’s site to manageable chucks of Micro Sites and Micro Services. This will enable short and independent release cycle for each set of features. This will also enable infrastructure planning based on the usage pattern. Role:

Macy’s – WebSite Service Gateway

Description:

WebSite Service Gateway(WSSG) is a webservice layer for Macy's mobile applications and partners. WSSG invokes Macy's Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and MST Systems via Hessian RPC and SOAP based webservice to construct response to match mobile apps and partner’s requirement.

WSSG services are registered in Mashery. WSSG services are accessed via Mashery using OAuth token by 3rd party.

The main goals of Service Gateway:

• Adapting requests from mobile clients to SDP and MST (HTTP request via REST endpoint to Hessian RPC/ SOAP endpoint)

• Adapting responses from SDP and MST to mobile clients (Hessian RPC/SOAP response to JSON for HTTP response)

• Versioning of Endpoints

Project #4:

Walgreens - PrintWorthy

Description:

PrintWorthy is an interactive Facebook Canvas application, to get a customized 5X7 social print with both photo and comments from Facebook. PrintWorthy architecture provides guidance for building maintainable cross-browser web applications that are characterized by rich interactivity, and a responsive user interface. Deliberate attention was paid to the modularity of the code, and the usability of the application. PrintWorthy pages are rendered without requiring a full-page reload. The lack of full- page reloads enables rich UI transitions between states (pages) and the application runs fast because of the client-side data caching and some data prefetching. Asynchronous calls are used optimally to keep the interface responsive and immersive. Client-side scripts are modularized for maintainability. JavaScript code is structured using JQuery UI Widgets and JavaScript objects. Widget enables to split UI into discrete stateful objects that provide a clean separation of responsibilities and concerns. Role:

Project #5:

VWR - VWR Stockroom application

Description:

The VWR Stockroom application (VSR) is a system to manage inventories and day-to- day activities of a Stockroom. This system allows VWR to manage its customer’s inventories and stocks.

VSR is a J2EE based web application, which adheres to Spring Framework. This is deployed on JBOSS application server. A JBOSS server does the heavy lifting of the database connection pooling, service hosting and providing messaging infrastructure. VSR has it’s own database to record stock room transactions, user role, UI widget personalization information. Hibernate, ORM framework is leveraged for first-level caching. VSR makes real time RFC call to the SAP system to get product’s Price and Availibility using SAP JCO library.

VSR has batch interface for communicating with SAP systems for Order Submission, Order Status, Shipment Status and Deliver Notice. The VSR system posts Purchase Order asynchronously to the SAP system and which intern post and Order Status, Shipment Status and Delivery Notice back to the VSR system. VSR system processes the messages received from SAP and updates the database records.

Cengage Gale - Times Digital Archive

Description:

Researchers can search through the complete digital edition of The Times (London), using keyword searching and hit-term highlighting to retrieve full facsimile images of either a specific article or a complete page. The entire newspaper is captured, with all articles, advertisements and illustrations/photos divided into categories to facilitate searching. Role:

Cengage Gale - The Listener Historical Archive 1929-1991 Description:

Description:

Sociocast captures specific website's users browsing pattern, location and their social network. With these Graphical representations any Website can showcase products based on their user's interest area and also introduce new product lines based on their audience need. Role:

Cengage Gale - British Library Newspaper

Description:

Gale will partner the British Library to create a fully searchable digital archive database that leverages the BL’s extensive historic newspaper collections. Imaged under the auspices of the BL, the database will be developed, hosted and maintained by Thomson Gale. In addition to newspaper content, the database will be supported by contextual material, developed by Gale, ranging from thematic essays, head-notes aimed at making the material as accessible as possible to a broad audience.

19th Century UK Periodicals product includes a mix of Gale content from the PSM vault and content sourced from about 10 other institutions, the vast majority of which is coming from the British Library and the National Library of Scotland. The NLS materials are being filmed from the originals by a company called UK Archiving and the BL materials are being filmed by the Reading office. UKA is also handling the color images. Role:

Description:

Designed for nursing students, the Nursing Resource Center brings together in an easy-to-use interface disease and drug overviews, care plans, relevant journal results and animated anatomy and physiology diagrams to complement the core encyclopedia texts. The information is written in accessible language for students completing class assignments and preparing for clinicals as they learn how to care for and treat patients. Search results are returned in tabs that correspond to steps in the nursing process.

It provides telecommunication services to 25 million customers in 14 western and mid-western states of the United States of America.

• Integrated Ordering Tool (IOT) provides QWEST customers the ability to order products and services from Qwest over the Internet (E commerce). IOT has proven to be a competitive business process, and Qwest is continuing its efforts to provide it’s customers with the most current and updated technology.

• Integrated Ordering Tool is implemented using Struts framework. Struts is based on MVC pattern and developed by Apache. It provides functionality of ordering telecom services through internet and caters to small business and residential customers

• IOT supports ordering of primary line, packages, long distance DSL, DTV, wireless products through internet. Successful orders are completed without intervention of customer representatives thus making ordering easy for customers. Role:

Qwest communications, Denver - USF Reliant

Description:

USF Reliant is an application to give discounts on telephone bills for Schools and Libraries in United States based on schools financial strength and location of the school.One of the main functions of USF is to promote the availability of telecommunications services to rural and high-cost areas of the country that are comparable in price and in quality to those available in urban areas. To do this, all telephone consumers contribute a percentage of their interstate telephone charges to the USF.

Support from the fund is then provided to carriers who are committed to investing in infrastructure located in rural areas where the cost of establishing facilities is too expensive to justify investment otherwise.
