Design and Simulation of DFIG based Wind Energy Conversion Systems with Active Power Filter Capabilities

Operation of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) based wind energy conversion systems with integrated active power filter capabilities with the grid-side converter (GSC).

The rotor-side converter (RSC) is worn for achieve maximum power withdrawal and to supply necessary reactive power to DFIG.

Design good control of GSC, in addition to its slip power transfer, harmonics has to be supplied.

This wind energy conversion system (WECS) mechanism as a static compensator (STATCOM) supplies the harmonics still after the wind turbine is in shutdown situation.

The proposed DFIG-based WECS is simulated using MATLAB/Simulink software to check its performance and simulation results are validated with developed DFIG system for various practical conditions, such as variable wind speed and unbalanced loads or single phase loads.

LTE: SCFT for new sites; Coverage drive (Downlink and Uplink) for the given site, PS-Handover & IRAT; Collection of parameters such as RSRP, RSRQ and SINR from the field to improve the site performance.

WCDMA: Performing SSV drive, Cluster drive, HSDPA, SMS, Cell Reselection (2G to 3G), Data Test (HSPA & Release99 for both Uplink & Downlink), Handover Test (3G to 3G) & Coverage Test (CPICH RSCP & CPICH Ec/No); Finding the best possible configuration for antenna heights, tilts and azimuths.

GSM: Single Cell Functionality Test of new integrated sites, Cluster drive, Cluster optimization; Monitoring of coverage parameters like RX level, RX quality, C/I, SQI, BER and FER; Mechanical Tilt, Electrical Tilt, Re-orientation of the antennas for solving coverage problem & minimizing interference.

Gained knowledge in handling Tools used for Drive Test like: TEMS Investigation v:10.05, 16.3, 17.2; Map Info Professional v:8, 11.5; Google Earth and GPS.
