Re: Senior Facilities Designer (PART-TIME, TERM)
The Faculty of Arts & Science / Office of Infrastructure Planning Please accept this letter as my application for the above noted position. As a licensed Architect (OAA) with a Masters’ Degree in Architecture (M.Arch). I hold a certificate of practice and have 22 years’of progressive experience in Architecture, Interiors and facilities management within the institutional, commercial, and residential sectors. I have all the qualifications you require, and therefore would complement your division’s expertise in post-secondary educational facilities services in capital project planning, renovations /alternations and strategic facilities space planning. Design & Construction Experience
A substantial portion of my work has involved design development experience, Ontario Building Code analysis and municipal bylaws review. I typically manage from pre-design through commissioning as the clients representative ranging in sizes and scope. For example, I was the lead coordinator of a 48 million 6009m2 new graduate business school utilizing building information modeling in transcending a design into direct fabrication allowing for accurate budgeting, scheduling, and construction execution. This integrated project delivery method aids in making a business case for a higher level of sustainable architecture for our clients.
Construction Administration & Management
In my past role as a planner, I focus on feasibility studies, project scope, programming, cost estimating, project scheduling, conceptual design, oversee in-house or out of house construction documentation, product specification, tender and contract administration. I’ve responsible for hiring outside consultants within the public sector procurement procedures and best practices protocol and co-ordination of RFQ, RFP, contracts for consultants and construction. For example, I’ve lead and supervised designs among major disciplines while balancing budget, project schedule through effective communication and fostering an open dialog with in-house resources, staff and clients to effectively resolve problems for a 1 million dollar life safety and code upgrade project for a five building, 1960s’ complex collaboratively across the all disciplines. Please find attached my curriculum vitae. I am confident that my qualifications and your needs are an excellent fit, and it would be in both our best interests to meet. I can make myself available for an appointment at your earliest convenience. I can be contacted at
416-***-**** if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you for your consideration.

Michael Guido
