Project Brief:
Um Alhoul Special Economic Zone (QEZ-3) is one of three Economic Zones covering an area of 29.3 square kilometres and is broadly categorized in following major land uses.

Power to the development is proposed to be fed from two super grid substations 400KV/132KV: Between super grid substations and the end consumers, there are:
19 no. primary substations (132/11KV).

Roles and responsibilities of the position include following:
Design management
Manage the design process through all Project Stages (CD, SD, DD, WD, TD and IFT); including Review Presentations, Workshops and liaison with Consultants and contractors;
Technical evaluation of Design/Construction documents
Liaison between the Design Consultant and Client.
Ensure that the design is carried out with respect to the relevant standards and quality procedures.
Interface management
Manage the electrification interfaces between the various departments and/or entities involved in the execution of Project;
Manage and coordinate resolution meetings between contractors;
Ensure and verify that the interfaces between each of the electrification systems and sub-systems meet the employer’s requirements;
Identify and resolve interface and design/construction issues during the engineering & construction phases of the project;

Major accomplishments/Highlights:
Established an understanding with Kahramaa for supplying 750V D.C. Power to Traction substations from its A.C. network for being the first rail project of Qatar.
Worked with contractor in providing solution to client for lowering and raising of Pantograph. The recommended option was later implemented in the Rolling Stock.
Identified noncompliance to contract specification requirements of various equipment related to railway electrification through Non-Conformity reports. The equipment were later rejected and replaced with equipment complying with project requirements
Coordinated with Architects and Overhead Catenary team of contractor in reducing OCS (Overhead Catenary System) length to match with architecture of tram stop without compromising on tram performance and charging.
Conducted value engineering of feeding power supply to a tunnel and provided technical solution for feeding the tunnel from existing traction network without need of building two distribution substations to comply with NFPA 130 requirements.
Reviewed contractor’s claims pertaining to various change requests and provided technical report to commercial/contractual team resulting in major savings for the project.

Supervising inspectors during all planned MEP site inspections as per the intervention points marked in the relevant ITP.
Closely monitor site activities to ensure quality of work is in compliance with contract requirements, good construction practice, only approved materials are used, compliance with shop drawings, and report to Construction Manager.
Make sure that all materials used comply with the approved Material Approval Request.
Make sure that the CONTRACTOR’s personnel are using the latest edition of the approved shop drawings, MS, QCP and ITP as per the project master index.
Make sure that any non-conformity has been reported through a Non-Conformance Report (NCR), reviewed by Construction Manager
