Whom It May Concern: April **, ****
Please accept this cover letter and resume for the position of Primary Care Paramedic with your company. I am confident that my education and experience as a front-line superintendent/primary care paramedic within Northumberland County will make me an ideal candidate for the position. I am an accomplished and energetic Paramedic with a 20-year solid history of achievement in emergency medical services.
My 20 years in emergency care has allowed me to become a highly skilled paramedic who provides exceptional pre-hospital care and services. Experienced in the newest techniques in the medical field with a diverse background in on call environment’s, industrial safety and field locations. I have extensive experience in administering drugs orally or by injection and diagnosing the nature and extent of illness to determine and prioritize pre-hospital procedures. My skills also provided me with the opportunity to be a student preceptor for over 15 years and 10 of my students were hired full time.
My experiences have provided me with the ability to gain knowledge and experience in
occupational health and safety. I have excellent knowledge of current legislation and have
obtained Level 1 and 2 in Health and Safety. In 2014 I had the pleasure of setting up and
planning a successful medical response for Ontario Para sport games. I successfully scheduled
ambulances, established a budget and purchased equipment for an outstanding medical response
at the games. In 2016 I was awarded the Governor General Commendation for Bravery for a situation involving a mental health patient trying to commit suicide while in the back of an ambulance on a major highway. It was an extremely stressful situation but I kept calm and focused on the situation on hand.
When Northumberland County held a mock disaster in 2017, I was the control
person for the emergency services and effectively coordinated with fire and police organizations.
Over the years I have taken part in several mock disasters as representation of management.
Continuing education is important to me and I am certified in stretcher repair and maintenance
through Ferno Cot Care. In January 2018, I successfully completed Managing and Leading in a Municipal Environment through Loyalist College and I am trained as Road to Mental Health Instructor.
Thank you for considering my application. I hope to bring my medical expertise and past experiences to an organization where I can contribute to its growth and success. Please do not hesitate to contact me at 905-***-**** if you need any additional information.
Sincerely,
Jorma Kortman
