Education:

California State University Fresno (CSUF), Fresno, CA Aug 16 – May 18

Master of Science (MS), Electrical Engineering

Osmania University (OU), Hyderabad, India Jul 12 – May 16

Bachelor of Engineering (BE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering

Course Work: Smart Grid Engineering, Power Systems, Power Systems Protection and Control, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, Renewable Energy, Switch Gear & Protection, Advanced Signals and Systems, Linear and Non- Linear Control Systems, Electromagnetic Theory, Embedded Systems, Digital Signal Processing, VLSI.

Certifications: Python, MATLAB Programming, Auto CAD, RF engineering, Statistics, AI & Machine Learning.

Professional Experience:

Electrical Design Engineer, iFactor Consulting, CA, USA (Nov 18-March 2020):

Supporting Building Design and Engineering services. Performing engineering calculations including energy analysis for compliance with NEC standards and local energy codes, T24 calculations, electrical load flow calculations, voltage drop calcs and electrical power distribution studies.

Drafting power, lighting and low voltage system layout drawings in Revit and AutoCAD.

Researching and responding to RFI’s, submittal and proposal requests in a timely manner.

Handling the discussions with contractors and clients to ensure compliance with NEC standards and client related standards, to coordinate and meet the project deadlines on time.

Power Systems Engineer Intern, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Hyderabad, India (Jan 13-Dec 13):

Conducted testing and evaluation of new components and sub-systems. Worked with AC & DC machines, high voltage systems, circuit breakers, relays, bus bars & transformers.

Implemented and tested electric motor control features for AC electric motors.

Documented and delivered results on various testing activities. Also provided review and documentation to establish compliance with design and construction standards. Provided engineering support by assisting senior engineers with making plans for the design of transmission and distribution substations.

Project Intern, Radiant Cables, Hyderabad, India (May 14-July 14):

Provided engineering support by assisting senior engineers with the design of RSCC Wire & Cable.

Cable manufacturing from the scratch to delivery process was monitored and reported.

Worked on preparing cost estimates, budgets, and quality assurance.

Performed testing of Nuclear Cables using the Pressure Test, Spark Test and CV Test and compared the results to that of normal Power System Cables.

Research:

Power Quality Concerns and Solutions in Smart Grids:

Researched on PQ problems associated with business risks exposed to severe financial losses pulling down the revenues in many developing countries.

Came out with solutions where using communication technologies and intelligent monitoring systems can solve various PQ related issues.

Fabrication of 2nd and 3rd generation PV cells:

Worked on fabrication of PV cells from non-toxic and earth abundant materials by all-electrodeposited method. This involved fabrication of CZTS as it offers favorable optical and electronic properties which makes it suitable for thin-film solar cell absorption layer.

Electrodeposition technique was implemented for CZTS thin films and used as p-type semiconductor on ZnS.

Smart Street Lighting:

Research and Development project implemented at University.

Responsible for the design of a street light system which could be automatically turned ON/OFF based on various parameters. Integrated wireless technologies with normal street lights.

ZigBee transmitter and receiver module were used to help the street light function based upon the gathered information. This information was programmed to help the function of street lights in a smarter way.

Projects:

Power Optimization of Communication System using Clock Gating Technique:

Designed the encoder decoder block and converter circuit using clock gating for power optimization without degrading system performance. Negative latch was used to generate gated clock to feed varied blocks.

Power Bank Circuit on PCB:

Instead of using 2 different modules to charge a mobile phone, a single PCB power bank circuit was created. A charging circuit is used to charge the battery of power bank which is an 18650 Lithium cell and the other circuit on same board to charge the mobile phone.

Sliding Mode Control of a DC- DC Buck Boost Converter:

Non-linearity is introduced in converters due to external factors which makes controlling the converters complex. Derived dynamic equations for both the converters and applied Sliding Mode Control. MATLAB was used for simulations where the result was observed.

Underground Cable Fault Distance Locator:

It is designed to track the exact location of the fault in a cable using the ohm’s law concept. Programmed 8051 microcontroller to display exact distance in kilometers. Designed the fault creation with a set of switches to cross check the exactness. The fault occurring at a distance and phase is displayed on an LCD interfaced with the 8051 microcontroller.

Technical Skills:

Programming Languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Verilog.

Hardware: FPGA, DSP Processor, PIC Microcontroller, ARM, 8086 Microprocessor, PCB layout and design.

Tools: AutoCAD, Power World, PSSE, MATLAB, PSpice, IDLE, REVIT, ReCap Pro & Navisworks.

Other Skills:

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Member of IEEE and SWE communities.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Intermediate knowledge on SKM system analysis.

Can analyze system operations and conduct power system studies.

Can interpret and read engineering drawings, project plans and specifications.

Advanced knowledge and experience in substation generation, transmission, and distribution design.

Worked with load flow analysis, short circuit systems and arc flash.

Can work independently as well as a team very efficiently, work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.

Proficient in CAD, PDF editing and Microsoft Office in Windows environment.

Working towards obtaining PE license.
