Attended all class meeting of the selected math course, toke notes, read all assigned materials, including text(s) and supplemental readings and conducted at least two one and a half hour study sessions per week throughout the semester, using strategies learned through the PASS Leader training workshop and through in-service training with the PASS supervisor.

CLASS WORK AND PROJECTS

The Baseball Bat Project: To figure out the sweet spot on the bat where maximum power is transferred to the ball and whether or not the material used to construct the bat impacts the speed of the ball when it encounters the bat. Designing a Traffic Circle: A mathematical model was developed to measure traffic flow of a simple traffic circle design, that had a single-entry point, four exits, a single lane, and the incoming traffic yields to the traffic in the circle.

Zermelo’s Navigation problem: An aircraft must travel through a 2-D region of strong wends. The problem is to program the aircraft’s heading in such a way as to minimize the time necessary to travel from point A to point B.

ACTIVITIES

National society of Black Engineers (NSBE):

Started the current NSBE chapter at UCCS and served as the president for 2 years. Recruited members and raised funds to finance 100 percent of the members trip to National convention free of charge. Organized professional career focused workshop to prepare for conference.
