Experience
2019
Honda Power Equipment, Swepsonville, NC - Maintenance Technician
Maintenance technician for an outdoor power equipment manufacturer. I assisted in maintaining die casting machines and associated equipment as required for proper operation. Maintenance duties such as removing, inspecting and cleaning the burners and their ports into the aluminum melt furnaces was performed. I maintained the evaporators for wastewater concentration, draining them and then cleaned the burner tubes and smokestacks as needed, making adjustments for optimal combustion efficiency on them.
2017 - 2019
Cintas, Graham, NC - Maintenance Technician
Maintenance technician for a uniform laundering company. Responsible for maintaining the operation of large washers, dryers, conveyors, and associated clothing processing equipment. I diagnosed and repaired electrical, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues as required to maintain production. I performed preventative and corrective maintenance work orders provided through the use of a computerized system. A lock-out tag-out safety program was used and documented as required. I had actively investigated various equipment problems as they occurred and resolved them. Projects involving the modification of equipment were performed to safely increase production. I operated the wastewater treatment system and steam boiler, making calculated adjustments as required.
2007 - 2015
I attended college during this time period taking classes to obtain the degrees at the schools listed above. I graduated with honors.
2005 - 2006
Saporito Plating and Manufacturing, Cicero, IL - Maintenance Electrician
Maintenance electrician for a metal plating and anodizing company. I diagnosed and repaired high power current rectifier systems and their electrical/electronic controllers used for electroplating and aluminum anodizing. Responsible for the continued operation of PLC controlled equipment using ladder-logic programs, hoists, conveyors, pumps, mixers, ventilation systems, driers and chillers, which I would troubleshoot and then clean, adjust, repair or replace as needed. Tested, diagnosed and repaired or replaced relay-logic controllers, diodes, fuses, motor starters, VFDs, limit and proximity switches, 4-20mA analog transmitters, sensors, temperature controllers, timers, SCRs, solenoids and transistors used in the production equipment controls. Performed preventive maintenance and controller overhauls during down-time, which is needed regularly due to the corrosive atmosphere from the hazardous chemicals used in the processes.
2004 - 2005
Hunter Panels, Franklin Park, IL - Maintenance Technician
Maintenance technician for insulating foam board manufacturer. Responsible for forming and high temperature curing machinery, automatic alignment tables with high speed cutting saws, stacking/shrink-wrapping machines and conveyors. I safely maintained the hazardous and highly flammable chemical storage tanks and their associated switches, sensors, pumps, valves and distribution system to the production line through adjustment, removal and cleaning or replacement. Diagnosed and repaired electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues as necessary to maintain production. Replaced large saw blades, maintained the air compressor and blowers, cleaned and adjusted the dust accumulator system, and installed vacuum pipes and electrical conduits/wiring. Performed preventive maintenance and repair on all plant and building equipment.
2000 - 2003
Partylite Manufacturing, Batavia, IL - Maintenance Technician
Maintenance technician for candle manufacturer. Responsible for candle-making machinery, boilers, chillers, compressors, hot wax and steam/chilled water storage and distribution systems, and associated processing and packaging equipment. I diagnosed problems and repaired as needed to maintain a high level of productivity in the fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preventive maintenance of candle machines, conveyors and packaging machines was performed through lubrication of mechanical parts, adjustment and replacement of belts, and cleaning of equipment. Installed candle machines, leveling them and connecting their electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, chilled water, hot wax, and steam systems; troubleshooting and adjusting for correct operation.
1997 - 2000
Dreisilker Electric Motors, Glen Ellyn, IL - Electrical Field Service Technician
Electrical field service technician for electric motor repair shop. Drove company van to various customer locations to troubleshoot, repair or install electric motors and their controls. Thoroughly tested electric motors with meggers and other specialty test equipment, returning them to the shop for rewinding as needed, followed with reinstallation. Replaced motor bearings on-location as needed. Worked with encoders, decoders and VFDs; troubleshooting, adjusting and repairing them and their associated electrical control systems. Installed high amperage conductors for large motors and the conduits that contain them. I worked with a variety of foreign and specialty motors. Customers included Caterpillar and A.B. Dick, where I worked on their large synchronous motor systems for compressed shop air, and various printing press, machining, and plastic working industries in the Chicago area.
1993 - 1997
Cygnet Controls, Darien, IL - Electrical Control Panel Assembler
Electric control panel assembler and field service installer for custom electrical control equipment manufacturer. I performed the same duties as for my prior job, but for a wide variety of industrial applications. Wired PLCs, touch-screens, VFDs, Ethernet, temperature/ pressure controllers and timers; programming these per application. Installed and wired equipment at customer locations, installing limit and proximity switches, pressure and level transducers, temperature probes, and pneumatic and hydraulic systems; troubleshooting these and adjusting them for correct operation. Examples include Mars M&M candy manufacturing machines, American National Can production lines, Panasonic automated assembly lines, and automated machining equipment lines.
1989 - 1993
Metropolitan Pump Company, Romeoville, IL - Electrical Control Panel Assembler
Electrical control panel assembler and field service installer for municipal water and sewerage pump manufacturer. Laid out and mounted electrical parts to metal panels for installation into metal electrical cabinets using power drills and saws. Punched and cut holes into cabinets using hole punches and skill saws to mount pilot lights, switches, and computerized touch-screens. Soldered contacts and plugs as required. Wired components such as relays, PLCs, timers, motor starters, circuit breakers, disconnects and transformers following schematics and tested the panels using electrical test equipment, troubleshooting and rewiring or adjusting as needed. I installed equipment at customer locations, performing what was necessary for correct operation for the application, consulting with company and customer engineers as needed.
