PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Colorado Structural Consultants –Denver, Colorado May 2017
– May 2018
Engineering Internship
• Worked as an intern with structural engineers and architects on various design projects. Helped in the design of two residential houses. One residential home of 3,555 square feet and the other with 2,800 square feet. Used design software’s of AutoCAD, ArchiCad, and SketchUp to create the floorplans, Site Layout, demolition plan, Roof layout, elevation plans, section views, electrical plans, framing plans, and shear wall designs of the houses
• Calculated the loads and design of the beams, columns, and slabs to ensure that they are kept up with city regulations. Consulted with our structural engineers and client to ensure the proper materials and layouts were being implemented to achieve safety, functionality, and aesthetics
• Performed structural stability calculations and sketched supported drawings prior to constructions
• Successfully drafted plans for complex reinforcement of the residential houses.
• Worked with our client to address deficiencies and design plans to rectify them. Math Department at MSU Denver – Denver, Colorado August 2014 – May 2017
Office Assistant – Tutor
• Scheduled meetings for students with advisors and professors, and preformed other clerical jobs needed
• Tutored students in Calculus 1 and 2, Differential equations, Physics 1 and 2, Dynamics and Statics. Taught them the material in way they would understand, through various examples and methods. Motivated students to not only pass the class, but to ace it. PROJECTS
Elements of Spacecraft Design – Spacecraft Simulation project
• Collaboration project with EyasSat, using their GEN 5.X desktop spacecraft simulators we were able to run spacecraft simulation using Cosmos Command & Control, from Ball Aerospace
• Used a single axis bearing to produce enhance rotation of space craft simulator which produces a more realistic attitude control simulations. The compressed air flowing under the bearing generated a near frictionless surface for the EyasSat to rotate on. This more accurately simulated the conditions under which a satellite in orbit would be subject to.
• Conducted a mass study budget and launch vehicle constraints which is essential for the any spacecraft or launch vehicle. Experimented with the CG transducer board that employs voltage ratios to determine center of mass.
• Used the thermal studies kit provided with the spacecraft to understand how to move energy around a system, to prevent “cold welding,” and overheating.
• Conducted solar array studies to study optimal cell configuration and practiced plotting I/V curves. Mechanics II-Dynamics – Parachute Design for Payload
• Group project in which we designed a parachute for a payload which weighed two grams. Designed five different parachutes which varied in diameter and dropped it from a three story building.
• Recorded time of each different parachute used on the payload, using this data we were able to calculate velocity and drag force on the payload.
• Plotted experimental data by making a diameter vs velocity chart and compared it to theoretical data from NASA
• Designed a visual rendering of the parachute and payload with AutoCAD and Rhino 3d to fully depict our experiment
Highway Engineering & Survey – Highway Design
• Collaboration project between Metropolitan State University of Denver and HDR Engineering Inc.
• Used computer-assisted engineering, design software, and equipment to design the highway design layout and plan sheet.
• Learned and developed baseline set of standards for road design
• Performed design calculations of the highway such as traverse calculations, horizontal curves, vertical curves, super elevations, and cross section & earth work
