Professional Experience
Marriott International – Bethesda, MD May, 2018–Present
One of 3 Storage Administrators which are responsible for the primary24x7x365 support, maintenance and upgrade of system storage software and products on the zOS mainframe SYSPLEX platform. Having to implement updates to improve the capability of performing backups and recovery which is important for business-critical Production, Test and Development application systems environment. These include but are not limited to REWARDS, OneYield, MarrPay, CTAC, MRDW and MMRS systems.
Senior Infrastructure Analyst z/OS Mainframe
Provided technical support to research and analyze storage requirements for the application users for their day to day projects.
Updated and resolved many SMS ACS routines errors which include allocated datasets to incorrect Storage Classes, Management Classes or Storage Groups.
Created new documentation to guide and understand ways to troubleshoot problems which may occur during DF/SMShsm AUDITS or in the command, backup, and migration logs.
Aided in implementing and customizing of storage product BMC STOPX 37 into the test/development and production LPAR environments.
Defined and implemented new updates for DF/SMShsm to take advantage of new functions from increasing the number of buffers processing backups/migrations to being able to identify why datasets are not being backed up.
Provided support in maintaining IBM VTS 7720 by updating specified selections or attributes for virtual tapes which would include the virtual tape scratch retention.
Planned and implemented the separation of DF/SMShsm logs for each LPAR from one DF/SMShsm log logging for all LPARS.
Performed requested changes from application users or groups to add or remove transactions for IMS in both the test/development and production LPAR environments.
Coded new SMS ACS routines and created new SMS constructs to implement extended format for Physical sequential datasets in order to implement new IBM encryption processes.
Created, updated and maintained IVP Storage documentation to be implement during z/OS upgrades or Disaster Recovery in order to make sure storage software was processing and working as designed.
Implemented changes to separate DF /SMShsm BCDS, MCDS, and OCDS onto its own volumes and created batch jobs to back up each DF/SMShsm CDS.
Facilitated timely resolution of service delivery problems and minimizes the impact to clients.
DMI (Digital Management, LCC) – Washington, DC Feb, 2013–May 2018
Office of Personal project to manage Mainframe computer DASD storage which contain data to support the systems and software which form the mainframe systems infrastructure to collect and maintain client data, and the increasing number of complex interrelated agency DASD and tape-based mainframe applications.
Mainframe Storage Administrator
Monitor and maintain the DASD space contained with z/ OS’s System Managed Storage subsystem and non-SMS DASD, UNIX Systems Services’ HFS and z/FS file systems, and DASD space used with the Linux Virtual Servers.
Installed, customized, and implemented storage management software products.
Planned, documented and carried out DASD migrations/conversions with using IBM’s Tape Copy Tool.
Performed analysis and producing management reports on DASD Storage or Tape utilization from
DF /SMSrmm output or DF /SMShsm CDS.
Provided technical assistance to programming and operations staffs.
Analyzed requirements and recommending software and hardware solutions.
Evaluated user application jobs or tasks and recommending improvements for the jobs or tasks to complete successfully.
Developed, tested, and implemented System Managed Storage’s Automated Class Selection (ACS) routines to implement storage management policies.
Assisted OPM business partners in the development of the requirements for SMS constructs to satisfy their data set life cycle management policies.
Used Tivoli Storage Manager for monitoring and tuning on Virtual Tape Server and Automatic Tape Library.
Matched the logical needs of users’ data to the physical characteristics.
Implemented and maintained data mirroring software running on the z/OS system used to communicate with contracted software residing in the DASD hardware controllers for the purpose of data mirroring.
Reclaimed wasted DASD space in z/VM, z/Linux, and z/OS MVS.
