Worked as a Coordinator Physician supervising regional public health programs in Choluteca; was involved in control of several epidemic events and participated in the process of training personnel and community in disease prevention, improving water supply and sanitation. Achievements:

• Leishmaniosis and Malaria: These diseases are endemic in the area; I coordinated all processes of control;

• Leptospirosis: There were several episodes of Leptospirosis during my tenure; we coordinated outbreak prevention and disease control with CDC (US GOV) and the Nicaraguan Government (project Maternal/Infantile) in this team effort;

• Dengue: Since 1998, my team worked on strategies of control;

• Immunization: Coordinated efforts to immunize local population to control epidemic of these diseases;

• Mal nutrition in the population under 5 years old: The team had several interventions. Projects were identified, and we worked out strategies to include micronutrients in the diets of local population.

• Child Mortality: The team made efforts to create conditions to decrease mother and infant mortality. We worked in conjunction with and funding from European Community, The World Bank, OPS, UNICEF, Save The Children fund;

• Sanitation and water for communities: We created and organized a health service organization in the city of San Marcos de Colon, Duyure, Corpus, Yusguare and Concepcion de Maria to address problems of sanitation, clean drinking water. We also addressed problems of proper infrastructure for a hospital and health care center. In these projects, we worked with several International funding agencies such as Save The Children Fund, Medicus Mundi Spain and others. Page 2
