Tomiwa Aina
Multimedia & UX Designer
As a designer, I believe any design problem can be solved by truly understanding the user. I am seeking an opportunity that will allow me to use my vast knowledge of design tools and processes to create unique design solutions for all kinds of user problems. Outside work I enjoy movies, improv, D&D, and anything that involves quick and creative thinking.

Experience
Work
Junior Graphic Designer 09/2017 - 09/2018
Veem
Ottawa, Canada
I spent a year as a junior designer at Veem, a Fintech 50 start-up in Canada. I was a member of the marketing team, creating graphic assets, web pages, videos and motion graphics to facilitate inbound marketing. I would redesign pieces based on feedback from the marketing team and iterative A/B testing. I also got to put agile management into practice while learning to work in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment that required a lot of initiative and creative thinking.
Designer & Videographer 06/2016 - 09/2016
Ottawa Community Housing (OCH)
Ottawa, Canada
I spent 3 months as a graphic designer at OCH where I developed various visual concepts and assets including logos, building signs, advertisements, posters, brochures, maps, and corporate reports. I also had to ensure that all previous assets had consistent branding and helped develop new branding standards that were accessible to many residents of different demographics.

During my undergraduate studies at Carleton University, Canada, I majored in Interactive Multimedia and Design. During this time I learned to use the Adobe Suite of products as well as many other design and programming tools. I also developed my collaborative skills by working in design teams, leading student teams and applying agile management frameworks like Scrum. For my senior project at Carleton I worked with a team of five other students to make the virtual reality game; “Odyssey: A VR Experience”. I was the lead modeler and animator as well as a user researcher for the project. As a researcher, I performed a series of user tests on new iterations and prototypes of specific interactions and designs in the game to maximize comfort and learnability for new users.
