PROJECT WORK / TRAINING

POST GRADUATION PROJECT:

Role of organic solvents on Hydrothermal liquefaction of Azolla and Role of bioenegry in 3R and smart cities (M.Tech PHASE II)

The main aim of the experimental study was to understand the effect of various solvents (H2O, CH3OH and C2

H5OH) on product distribution and nature of products of hydrothermal liquefaction of Azolla sp. Hydrothermal liquefaction was performed at subcritical 260, 280 and 300 C for the residence time 15, 30 and 60 minutes. The theoretical investigation dealt with 3R initiative of Government of India in order to develop the smart cities in India.

Removal of dye colour through phycoremediation using microalgae species

(M.Tech PHASE I)

The project involvesd immobilization of the algae using sodium alginate and further using the produced beads for the treatment of Textile waste water.

UG PROJECT:

Construction of Epitope-tagged Strains and Examination of Nuclear Localization of Iron- Responsive Transcription Factors in Candida albicans. The dissertation, consisting of four months, involved constructing mono-allelic mCherry tagged Nourseothricin resistant strains using the mCherry-SAT1-FLP cassette, followed by changing the resistant strains into mCherry tagged Nou sensitive strains by induction of flippase activity of the FLP(recombinase) gene. On successful screening of such mono-allelic tagged strains, bi-allelic tagging was to be done in the positive clones.

INDUSTRIAL TRAINING/ INTERNSHIP:

Poster presentation on “Role of temperature and solvent on hydrothermal liquefaction of Sargassum sp. algae” at BRSI-ICCB 2016.

Undertook a four weeks training at Harihar Biotech, Biotech Park, Lucknow by the end of my 2

nd

semester. Thereby, I gained the opportunity to sharpen myself with the basics needed by a Biotechnologist (subjects included Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Biology & Bioinformatics).

Gained experience in dealing with some of the medically important microorganisms while interning at the Microbiology Dept. of Religare Labs., Fortis Escorts Hospital, Faridabad (while pursuing my 4

th

semester).

Participated at the 4

th

international Conference on Stem Cells & Cancer.
