PROJECT EXPERIENCE
How Much Money Do They Make?
Developed a Python stochastic gradient descent regressor model to predict the salary of a job based on characteristics of job holder.
Achieved MSE metric of 329 on validation data after extensive feature engineering.
DengAI Predicting Disease Spread (from DrivenData.co)
Created a negative binomial regression model with Python and SciPy library to predict weekly cases of dengue fever in two tropical cities using environmental features as input.
Error metric (Mean Absolute Error) in the top 11% in competition. Which Flower Is It?
Created a flower image classifier with Pytorch for 102 species using a pre-trained Densenet161 CNN.
Achieved validation accuracy of 94%.
WORK EXPERIENCE
2006 – PRESENT
STEM Instructor Clear Creek ISD and Eanes ISD
Design lesson plans and facilitate daily classroom activities with project-based learning. Create bi-weekly visualizations of student formative assessments to track student concept mastery as a predictor of success on standardized exams and to develop intervention strategies.
Results in 75% student success on End Of Course Exams. 2014 – PRESENT
Education Consultant National Math & Science Initiative, IDEA Schools
Mentor AP Science educators in developing curricula, best pedagogical practices and using data to track student progress toward AP exam success.
Lead facilitator of AP physics boot camp responsible for creation of instructional pedagogical video library for district wide use. 2000–2006
Network Capacity Engineer AT&T
Project manager for new phone and data network equipment installations responsible for forecasting future equipment purchases. Developed a regression model trained on 3 data sources that helped reduced annual installations budget by approximately 15%.
Model and predictions used on monthly basis to assess network hot spots and optimize business development opportunities.
