-Maintained four year academic plans for each student
-Scheduled and advised each student on course selection that will meet graduation requirements and align with career goals and career exploration
-Met with all 9th graders to help acclimate them to their new school and introduce them to our naviance program
-Presented a career search program to all 10th grade students and had them complete at least one career search
-Introduced our 10th and 11th graders to the many BOCES programs that are available
-Worked with all 11th graders on postsecondary plans, including college and vocational school searches
-Educated students on the college application process, including scholarships and financial aid
-Processed college applications for all seniors that apply
-Wrote letters of recommendations for many students
-Coordinated two college fairs each year that are held at Centereach High School
-Scheduled appointments for college representatives to be available to meet with students
-Coordinated our on-site admissions program for the high school
-Presented and coordinated evening programs including senior application night, 8th to 9th grade orientation, and junior planning night
-Held mediation for students that were experiencing conflicts with one another
-Saw students for mandated counseling
-Met with students for personal issues as needed
-Prepared for and attended CSE and 504 meetings
-Responsible to see that IEP’s are followed
-Arranged teacher, parent, and student conferences when academic support was needed
-Worked as the district SAT college board coordinator for 1 year
-Assumed the position of team leader for our guidance department for 3 years
-Member of our district scholarship committee
-Participated in our district course offering review meetings
