Occupational Safety and Health Specialist

Coordinated the implementation of the Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) and traffic safety programs for 35+ commands. Reviewed standard operating procedures, training and other records to determine compliance with qualifications and certifications of Naval Station to include 350 tenant commands.

• Applied federal, state, or local safety and occupational health laws, regulations, standards, principles, theories, practices and procedures to advise on and resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements and recommend SOH policy to higher levels of management

• Analyzed and evaluates new and existing jobs, processes, practices, regulations, products and other systems to determine the existence and reduce the severity, probability and outcome of hazards to eliminate or control potential hazards

• Partnered with Naval Facilities Engineering Command Natural Resources Department during the collection and recycling of 363 Christmas trees in support of the dune’s rehabilitation project

• Served as the driving force behind the coordination and execution of the Emergency Management Plan, providing 1,468 water bags and 605 sandbags to 36 tenant commands

• Set the benchmark for excellence while leading department in completion of 22,992 maintenance actions providing untold flexibility in support of extremely aggressive work up cycle
