Currently I am working at Schneider Electric in El Paso, TX. I started in October, 2019. I enjoy this position and I am gaining useful experience. However I am looking for a higher salary and better benefits.
After leaving Job Corps, I held a variety of positions in El Paso, Phoenix and Houston. From October 2005 to June 2007, I worked in New Orleans, Louisiana working on various clean up jobs after Hurricane Katrina. Most of these jobs were demolition, pouring concrete and delivering materials. I left New Orleans after two different employers were forced to close down operations because FEMA, other government agencies, and insurance companies were not paying contractors in a timely fashion.
From June of 2007 to November of 2007 I worked for a subcontractor performing maintenance on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. I returned to El Paso when stormy conditions in the Gulf slowed down the work schedule.
From 2008 until 2015, I worked as a seasonal employee for Icicle Seafood in Alaska. The work typically lasted from May until September. I performed various tasks, both working on the ships and on a land plant. Much of the labor required heavy lifting and a very fast work pace. Attention to safety issues was critical. The ability to work and live in tight conditions was a necessity, as was the ability to get along well with co-workers from all over the world. A high percentage of employees either quit or get fired each season, due to the stress level of the job and living conditions. At the end of each season, I was listed as “Eligible for Rehire”.
In the Spring of 2014, I completed Security Officer Training, Levels 1, 2 and 3. I have certificates for each level.
In September 2015, I completed an intensive 5 day training course (outside Dallas) offered by the Texas Interagency Incident Management Academy. I earned 2 certificates (S130 and S190). I will be eligible to serve as a forest wildfire fighter in the 2016 fire season.
During the Alaska fishing off-season, I worked in El Paso with Whitfield Painting and Contracting. I also delivered pizza and occasionally worked for temporary agencies.
I am OSHA certified in sit down forklift, stand up forklift, electric pallet jack, and scissor lift.

I am hard working, honest and reliable. Working as a temporary, often after completing my assigned task, I would try to find other ways to make myself useful, even if it was just sweeping floors. I don't like to sit still. I have witnessed other temporary workers who were lazy, incompetent and disrespectful but I hold myself to a higher standard.
I have always been a member of a gym and a weightlifter. I also run several miles every week.
I am a marathon runner. In 2012 and 2013, I completed the Bataan Memorial March in White Sands NM, both times carrying a heavy backpack. The Bataan Memorial March is considered one of the toughest marathons in the US,because of its rough terrain.
I have also competed in many Mud and/or Obstacle Races.
