Information Technology Research
House Prices: Advanced Regression Techniques Analysis as Capstone project for Data Analytics, Big Data, and Predictive Analytics Certificate, 2018
Used EDA and feature selection techniques and applied Advanced Regression algorithms to predict the final price of a house based on distinctive features.
German Credit Card Dataset Analysis as a research project for Introduction to Big Data Analytics Course, 2017.
Applied EDA and feature selection techniques and used different classifiers to determine the creditworthiness of potential customers to make the right decision that fits within their risk appetite.
Used Data Mining techniques in Master’s thesis research to predict User Behavior over Web, 2010.
Analyzed ECML/PKDD 2007 challenge. Applied web usage mining techniques such as data preprocessing and visualization to predict user navigation behavior based on user real historical data. Applied different classification algorithms, studied effect of attribute selection on each classifier performance. Results reported comparable to challenge winner and outperformed runner-up.
Building Vehicle Search Engine as Semantic Web application as a research project for Knowledge Engineering Course, 2007
Built a semantic web application that represents car domain and enables users to search for information like available car models in market, car parts and specification, classification of cars according to country of made, brand name, ...etc. using Knowledge of Engineering methodology, OWL-LD and SPARQL Query language.
Network Intrusion, data mining research project for Data Mining Course, 2006
Studied network intrusion dataset provided by KDD Cup 1999 Contest where it has unbalanced class distribution, performed exploratory data analysis and prepared data for mining. Built two different classification models (MLP and Gaussian) to classify connections as legitimate or belonging to one of four fraud categories taking misclassification costs into account.
Designed Student Registration System using ACCESS and SQL as a research project for Applied Database Course, 2006.
Created relational database system using MS Access 2003 by analyzing given problem, proceeding through database development life cycle, producing conceptual and logical model diagrams based on given system requirements and applying appropriate normalization methods showing functional dependencies.
Evaluating Part of Speech Taggers (NLTK Backoff vs. TnT), 2006
Compared performance of two POS taggers (NLTK backoff tagger and TnT tagger) on two data sets.
Implemented Automatic Discretize for Modern Standard Arabic using SVM, 2005.
Focus on Arabic discretization problem and propose solution by using the CORPUS-Based Statistical-Orientated approach. Using YamCha, presented a Support Vector Machine (SVM) based approach to automatically tokenize (segmenting off clitics), part-of speech (POS) tag and finally discretize the word.
