I am applying for the position of custodian/janitor
I worked in the property management industry doing minor repairs in rental homes, duplexes and town-houses both inside and out. During the summer, I was doing grounds work, making sure the “site or property” was in good order. Filling potholes, repairing fences and some painting, sign-age repair and installation, tree and bush trimming, site clean up and disposal of outside refuse (and sometimes inside) of the rental units. This also included doing minor repairs in the residence(s) as per maintenance request or after the tenant moved out, cleaning inside residence where necessary, repairing small maintenance problems; and making sure the outside was in good repair for the prospective tenant. This may include snow and ice removal if necessary for showings and or when new tenants moved in.
ETS - {Cleaning buses is no different than cleaning buildings, one is still cleaning! } Fleet Services I was a cleaner and a service person. Part of my duties was to ensure that the bus barn (garage) and surrounding area including the mechanics’ work area were clean. Pick up and disposal of litter, and other debris as well as using a riding floor cleaner to keep dust, dirt and other debris to a minimum. Cleaning and detailing the buses included, cleaning out the buses, cleaning the windows and ledges. Disinfecting where applicable like the front dash and rear deck was wiped down, stanchions were wiped. The driver compartment was cleaned thoroughly and disinfected. The passenger seats were steam cleaned, the ceiling and side walls were also cleaned. Graffiti and gum was also diligently removed. Steam cleaning engines and undercarriage of vehicles when assigned. Sometimes various areas of the outside of the bus required attention, it was attended to. I also used various types of mobile (riding) floor cleaning machines and battery powered floor cleaning machines and forklift.
What is not listed on my resume is my janitorial experience. I was a caretaker for a semi private school/church in Sherwood Park for 2 years. I cleaned and disinfected classrooms, common areas, and the staff office area. I vacuumed hallways, cleaned and disinfected and restocked wash rooms and locker rooms as well as the gymnasium. I also used janitorial machines to do floors, carpets, power washers, riding floor cleaner, etc. I was also in charge of 2 people junior custodians. Room set ups for various functions in classrooms common areas, gymnasium functions, and other functions were also part of, my duties.
For a year, I was also a caretaker for a church in Edmonton and responsible for the cleaning, disinfecting and restocking of the facility which included bathrooms, windows, vacuuming church proper and office area meeting rooms, cleaning, sweeping, washing and waxing church hall and hall (including disinfecting) kitchen, hallways, function set-ups in its hall as well as the simple basic maintenance of the building.
