PERSONAL STATEMENT
I have been a nurse for twenty-six years and I cannot say that nursing was my dream job when I was a child. I became a nurse when I was pregnant with my second child and wanted a career that I could have options to choose from and was rewarding. So, I enrolled in a licensed practical nursing career and graduated three months before my third child was born. Over the next twenty year I worked full time, raised three kids on my own and slowly advanced my career until I listed below, I have tried different vocations in the nursing field. I have enjoyed each new opportunity that I have been given to learn a new field in nursing. The different experiences in my career have given me valuable skills to help with the transition into my new role as a Nurse Practitioner. One skill that would help in my new role would be the ability to talk and educate patients and coworkers. I have learned that being a passionate caregiver includes the ability to really listen to your patients and striving to understand the true question they are asking. The aptitude to perform this expertise means that I have to keep up with new medical information and procedure. I am excited and motivated to start my new career as a Nurse Practitioner.
