PERSONAL STATEMENT
I am excited to apply for your open family medicine/urgent care position. I have extensive experience in primary care and hospital medicine coupled with strong academic background and relevant certifications.
My resume reflects unique strengths I have acquired through integrating work experience with academic training since graduating from medical school in 2000.
My journey in Medicine began in 1994 when I entered medical school in Ukraine. After graduation in 2000 I returned to Lebanon where I volunteered for one year (2000-2001) at a peripheral hospital with the goal of learning more about health care delivery in Lebanon. I subsequently worked independently as a general practitioner for another year (2001-2002) when I realized that general medicine was limiting and not sufficient to help me fully realize my potential as a healer. I wanted to achieve mastery in a specific field but I was not yet sure what specialty would best fit my personality. I entered the world of hospital medicine and spent about 4 years (2002-2006) working in different hospital wards (internal medicine, surgery, urgent care, emergency, pediatrics). I immigrated to the United States in January 2007 where I spent two years between electives in hospitals and clinics coupled with preparing and passing USMLE exams. I returned to Lebanon in 2009 and resumed family medicine training (2009-2013) at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. I worked after that as family physician in Beirut for two years (2013-2015). After returning to the United States I completed a fellowship in Geriatrics at Louisiana State University (2015-2016) and a family medicine residency at WellSpan-York hospital in York, Pennsylvania. My current position is at Meritus Health where I practice family medicine in an outpatient setting.
