PROJECTS
Epigenetic Control of DAX-1 Expression
Technologies: python, R, exploratory data analysis, bioinformatics analysis
> Collaborating with Professor Christina Tzagarakis-Foster in studies of transcription factor DAX-1 and its involvement in cancer
> Exploring metadata from The Cancer Genome Atlas projects such as cervix cancer (CESC) (13GB) and pancreatic cancer (PAAD) (2GB) projects
> Analyzing DNA methylation information to determine regulations of DAX-1 expression in different types of cancer
Predicting Diabetes
Technologies: machine learning, python, pandas
> Conducted exploratory analysis on diabetes dataset with 10+ variables
> Utilized confusion matrix to evaluate accuracy of diabetes prediction modeled by support vector machine with rbf and poly kernel
> Optimized prediction outcome by parameter tuning, improving prediction accuracy up to 76%
Investigation on Births Dataset
Technologies: R, exploratory data analysis, and regression modeling
> Investigated and analyzed 1000+ births data to create informative plots to determine features related to birthweight of babies
> Performed statistical and hypothesis tests over 14 variables to find highly correlated predictors
> Created linear and logistic regression models to reveal that length of pregnancy (fitted coef = 0.70) and marital status (fitted coef = -0.67) have the most impact on babies’ birthweight
EXPERIENCE
