Graduate Research Assistant (Data Analyst) IHRP (UIC) May 2019 –

• Sole member of the IT team and is responsible for managing and maintaining the proper functioning of NIH funded Research study.

• Developed a Skill in Alexa which can function as a Wellness Coach using Python and AWS. It played a crucial role in funding of grant for the research study.

• Created a real-time self-harm alert system to automatically notify the study doctors in case a participant’s survey responses indicate that the participant has suicidal tendencies. Optimized the process to save around 5 hours of manual effort per incidence.

• Implemented a data collection system to fetch participant’s physical activity features using Python scripts and Fitbit API.

• Created an automated email system using Python which sends study invites to new participants if they meet the study requirements.

• Using Tableau, developed dashboards for the participants to track their individual progress by visualizing KPIs like physical activity markers, Average heart rate and minutes spent within each activity levels, most active period of the day etc.

• Developed dashboards using Tableau for the research team to track the recruitment, retention and treatment efficacy by visualizing KPIs like Avg cost/enrolled subject, Top exclusion & refusal reasons, Recruitment funnel, predicting enrollment performance. This helped the team to develop retention strategies for the refusal reasons and reduce the dropout rate by 30%.

• Developed data pipelines and ETLs to process the data from different sources and store it in a data warehouse using Z-Cron and Windows Task Scheduler for scheduling and Python for scripting. As result of this automated process, 95% of the data was pre-processed for analyses.

• Performed statistical analysis on current trends of the data and conducted bi-weekly meetings with study coordinators and director and relayed the same which resulted in increase in recruitment of new participants and retention of the old participants. PUBLICATION

• Published at International Journal of Innovative Science, Engineering & Technology in Volume 3, Issue 1, January 2016.

• The aim of this paper was to study the influence of applying a game-based learning approach to nutrition education so that students could start learning with greater interest and enthusiasm along with other students. We developed a system to check their knowledge and conducted a systematic literature review based on empirical studies of how technologies influence young children’s learning.

Social Media Sentiment Analysis

Visualization of Tornadoes

• Created a web-based application using R and Shiny which visualizes the relative strength and damage from tornadoes across the states of USA for the last 65 years.

• Created bar plots and pie charts which visualized the tornadoes occurrence in various states of US.

• Created Maps which showed occurrence of different categories of tornadoes and filtered it based upon tornado categories, damage to property, casualties etc. Eventful – Yelp for Social Events

• Created a web-based application using Python and WordPress which scraps all the events happening in Chicago from sites such as UIC, UC, Yelp, Google Events etc. using BeautifulSoup and stored all the data in remote MySQL server which was updated daily.

• Website had functionalities such as account creation, event creation, event recommendation (based on friends), referral system, barcode creation for events and various other social components.

• Implemented a Friendship Based recommender system in Python which recommended events based on your preference and it also accounted for Friends influence vs strangers influence (friend’s events had more priority over stranger’s events).
