SMS 2003 / 2.1:
Primarily responsible for MSI creation and deployment. Performed Collections, Advertised Packages, Deployed to Clients as needed. Implemented custom tool which automated the importation/advertisement of software, which is used to eliminate “user error” while staging deployments.
Macrovision AdminStudio 8 / 7 (InstallShield 2014 / 2012):
Used daily for centralized management of Regional Application packaging. WorkFlow Manager (WFM) used for Conflict Analysis allowing us to track and analyze packaging trends and quality. SnapShot functionality used to repackage Vendor applications to msi format. VBS used to modify multiple packages both “pre” and “post” build, ensuring Departmental/Regional standards are in place. Extensive registry manipulation and detection performed to ensure Properties contain correct values. Multiple apps converted to Citrix hosted installs. Migrated from AdminStudio 7 to version 8. Created new Templates and modified existing ones to meet Packaging Lifecycle needs.
Wise Package Studio 8.0 / 7.0 / 5.6 / 4.2 / Wise For Windows Installer:
Extensive use of Wise product suite used in all phases of package creation, maintenance, and modification. System Capture, Conflict resolution, Patch creation, and Wise Scripting used in multiple development/deployment environments. Wise WorkBench used to develop MSI packages across multiple teams in various locations. Vista testing conducted within Virtualization Layer to ensure future OS rollout (targeting LTI and ZTI Deployments).
Microsoft BDD:
SysPrepped new company image for BDD deployment. Inserted Baseline Apps into deployment image. Deployed new image to an isolated QA environment to allow full regression testing of Applications, using PXE boot. User migration of existing XP data to new environment. Focused primarily on LTI (Lite Touch Installation) to minimize Support presence at Desktop. Ongoing effort to introduce ZTI (Zero Touch Installation) using SCCM.
InstallShield For Windows Installer:
Microsoft Logo Compliant installs released worldwide throughout the retail market. Silent installs deployed within a large client/server environment utilizing OnDemand capability of Msi. Patches created as needed and silently delivered within that environment. InstallShield UpdateService used to keep product current. Merge modules created/integrated across entire company product line. Side-by-side dlls implemented to avoid versioning conflicts.
Microsoft Visual C#/ C++ 6 / 5:
Created and modified custom Dlls needed to meet installation requirements. Dlls are capable of file detection/creation/rename/deletion, adding/deleting/modifying registry data, setting/retrieving property values, detecting OS/Service Pack versions. SQL statements used to interact with MSI packages, dialog creation, handle tracking. C# currently being used to develop application software.
Microsoft Visual Basic .NET / 6 / 5:
Created applications to populate registry data and create files for testing purposes. Multiple products/versions could be simulated on target machine to generate software conflicts. VBScript used to meet installation requirements as needed.
VBScript:
Automated the preparation of client machines for software deployment. VBS used to alter both ISM / MSI (post build) as needed. Those modifications include creating and modification of: Features/Components/Tables/Sequences. Win10 Migration: Acting a liaison between Application Owners and Packaging / Deployment Team. Extensive testing of Applications to ensure seamless transition from Win7 to Win10. Providing guidance on Best Practices to ensure uninterrupted functionality of business applications during OS migration. Facilitating App Owner testing to obtain Sign Off of UAT. Packages are then staged to a the Win10 Production environment. Extensive re-write of Packaging Standards document. Created Powershell Utility which checks for ICE/CUB compliance, adherence to Company Standards, ensures expected documentation is present, parses documentation to ensure the required details are present (Domain / AD Groups exist / AppOwner Details / Go Live Date / Files are present in Staging share / etc. Utility sends email to various groups depending on results of scan. Package deployment via a customized In-House mechanism. Worked with the Cloud Team implementation Azure infrastructure.
Sparta Systems, Inc. – 11/17/2013- 04/01/2018:
Extensive use of custom scripting to integrate entire software suite for seamless installs and functionality. Extensive troubleshooting on Windows Server and Workstation. Created dynamic Auto-Update utility to successfully handle legacy software installs without user interaction (with complete logging capabilities). Created and documented Company Standards which helped ensure proper functionality. Re-wrote legacy script-based installs as Industry Standard MSI’s while incorporating Company Standard/Requirements.
TD Securities 10/01/12 – 11/15/2013:
Win7 migration project primarily focused on Application remediation (WinXP to Win7) and Base Image creation. Assess and modify Trading Floor Applications to ensure seamless upgrades and functionality. Full software lifecycle management. Extensive scripting in VBS, PowerShell, and Batch (as needed). Implemented an AppV infrastructure as both Stand Alone and integrated into the SCCM Production Environment. Used ACT (Application Compatibility Toolset) to create application shims needed to suppress UAC, allow legacy Apps to function on Win7, and to seamlessly grant standard users Admin privileges, all while meeting Audit Requirements.
Dell (End User Computing) 7/5/10- 6/1/12:
Traveled throughout the US performing Win7 migrations. Window 7 Readiness Assessments, Office 2010 Readiness Assessments (using OMPM, OCCI, ACT) were used to determine what level of effort would be needed to migrate. Software compatibility was analyzed with AppDNA. User requirements were gathered from Departments to tailor the new Windows 7 image to company’s needs. This included customizing deployment tools, discovering Core Apps, GPO requirements, Security needs, Remote Access options. USMT was used to migrate App Data and User Data to new Win7 machines. Applications were assessed for Win7 compatibility and packaged in Wise Studio, XenApp, or AppV (as needed).
Cigna HealthCare: 7/1/09 – 7/1/10
Wise Package Studio used to create/repackage hundreds of in-house and commercial applications. Applications were customized so they could be deployed by both Marimba and SMS2003 to over 35,000 workstations (physical and virtual).
Barclays Capital: 4/1/07 – 6/27/08
CRM Lead for U Self-Service Packaging. Primary responsibilities focused on the creation of MSIs, tutoring/ instructing Developers how to create MSIs to Company Standards. Responsible for the configuration of AdminStudio and its related tools, including WorkFlow Manager, Application Manager, and customization of InstallShield 12 client. Creation / maintenance of validation files (cub). Customized ACE warnings within Application Manager / Conflict Analyses.
Nomura Securities International: 3/01/06 – 4/1/07
AdminStudio 12 / 11 used extensively to create company MSI’s. Responsible for Automation scripts used to Transform Vendor MSI’s to meet company standards prior to deployment. Pre (ism) and Post (msi) build scripts capable of dynamic Table/Property manipulation. Modified all packages as needed to meet Company standards / deployment requirements. WorkFlow Manager (WFM) used extensively to track Global packaging trends/progress. Created new Templates to help guide the Package creation process within WFM. Extensive VM testing. Merrill Lynch: 7/25/04 – 12/26/05
Used AdminStudio to create MSI’s targeting XP/2K/2K3/NT for both client and server configurations. Created VBScript and WinBatch solutions needed for pre and post processing of clients. Designed and implemented extensive Custom Actions as needed to customize install behavior. Modified User Interface to allow precise Administrative control. Prepared packages for Branch/Domain specific deployment. Extensive deployment through CASD, GPO, and In-House Utilities. Rebuilt PC’s with various hardware to allow testing of new hardware requirements.
McAfee Software Division-Network Associates Inc. 2000-2004:
Used InstallShield for Windows Installer to create and maintain multi-lingual (Enu, Eng, Esp, Deu, Ita, Fra, Kor, Chs, Cht) installs for several retail products including McAfee VirusScan, McAfee VirusScan Wireless (PDA), McAfee Firewall, McAfee Internet Security, Visual Trace, Student Survival Kit, Quick Clean, etc. Products were packaged both individually and as a suite, requiring close integration and development. Side-by-side dlls implemented to maintain compatibility with existing software versions. Install-on-demand capability enabled for seldom used Features. Extensive registry modifications used to mimic application behavior. C++ used to create dlls which were needed to enhance standard install functionality. Additional installs developed for inter company deployment via WAN using AdminStudio. Extensive testing experience dedicated to file versioning and product conflicts.
Lab-Volt Systems, Inc. 1999-2000:
Wrote and maintained installation software using InstallShield Professional 5.1, 5.5, 6.1 and InstallShield International. Used Microsoft C++ 5.0 to write custom dll’s which were needed for compliance to company standards / guidelines. Wrote and maintained control software for CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machinery. These devices included mills, lathes, 5 axis robotic arms, wind tunnels. All devices were used in commercial/industrial/vocational classrooms worldwide.
