Professional Summary:

I have been in the field of healthcare for the last 28 years. My last position was managing and putting together a long term ventilator unit along with a veteran nurse in an Assisted Care Facility. These were patients that no longer required critical care or hospital setting but were unable to return into the home setting for one reason or another. Together we put policies in place for all modalaties, hired competent staff, trained staff for their roll on the unit, evaluated patients at different facilities for appropiate placement, payroll, budgets, meetings with doctors, families, and after meeting with the local college arranged for a rotation for Respiratory Students to have exposure with patients with Tracheostomy and assist with changes and ventilator weaning. I attended UNC Chapel Hill Statewide Program for Infection Control and after obtaining my certificate implemented and managed the Infection Control for the Ventilator Unit which eventually became facility wide. This facility backed onto the campus of Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC and they eventually purchased the building and we were forced to move in-house to another facility. The unit had expended into an acute care unit before the move into Kings Mountain Hospital. I decided to take a break from healthcare and go in a different direction for awhile.

I took the opportunity to drive a truck and see some of the country, as the rest of my family done. It has been a great experience and I have met some wonderful people along the way, aside from being in every state now other than Alaska and Hawaii. I feel like it is time to return to what I was meant to do, which is Respiratory. I have recently obtained my Florida State License which is RT18241 and am seeking employment back into the field of Respiratory. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Sincerely,

Kimberly Hefner, RRT
