Implementation of a Multidisciplinary Weight Management Program

Many research studies support the use of a multidisciplinary approach to medically managed weight loss, providing patients with education from an exercise physiologist, a therapist, a dietician and a medical practitioner, rather than diet and exercise or pharmacological management, alone. The family nurse practitioner is in the ideal role to implement a multidisciplinary approach for weight loss among overweight and obese patients.
