ACADEMIC PROJECT
Title: Two way communication using gesture control for the hearing and speech impaired people.
Location: GKM College of Engineering and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
Duration: November 6, 2016 – April 6, 2017
Team Size: 3
Objective: To design and develop a wearable system for the hearing and speech impaired people which reduces the obstacle for them to communicate with the normal people.
The wearable gloves fetches the hand gestures of the hearing and speech impaired people using the mems sensor fixed in the gloves and the signal is converted in to voice and text messages to the normal people using the mobile application.
On the other end the normal people uses the speech recognition system in the mobile which convert the speech in to text message and will be displayed in the display for the hearing and speech impaired people.
Individual Role: I played the role of a team leader and it put me in charge of developing a plan and manage the deliverables according to the plan. I have learned how to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. I could manage and encourage the team members to take an active role in the project. The role of the team leader strengthens my duty bound thought.
WORKSHOPS ATTENDED
Attended a workshop on Medical equipment conducted by AMS Solution at Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
During: August 22, 2016 - August 23, 2016.
Learned: I gained a practical knowledge about medical equipment especially in ICU, Operating Theatres and Cardio Thoracic Units like ventilator, heart-lung machine, IABP, Anesthesia machine.
I got relevant information about functioning and application of the above-mentioned equipment.

Learned: Gained knowledge about radiotherapy equipment like MRI, CT, X-RAY, GAMA CAMERA.
