Foreign Service National Security Investigator, Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S Embassy, Kabul, Afghanistan.

Supported FBI personnel assigned to the Legal Attaché office in Kabul, Afghanistan. Provided interpretation and translation of conversations, written documents and cultural norms for FBI personnel. Assisted with the resolution of complex matters as they may impact upon the FBI’s mission in Afghanistan. Fostered cooperative liaison with established Afghanistan law enforcement and government entities through interaction between the Legal Attaché Office staff. Facilitated investigative initiatives, improved lead response time and bridged the cultural gaps that exist between entities. Provided critical and continuous language and cultural guidance to Bureau personnel during interactions with Afghan persons. Performed a variety of administrative tasking which cannot be performed by the FBI personnel due to my familiarity with Afghanistan, its customs and culture. Conducted liaison in all provinces of Afghanistan, many of which are in remote areas with hostile environments. Conducted informative briefings with the Regional Agent in Charge, Special Agents, and other appropriate officials on the status of investigations and activities. Provided investigative support and conduct investigative activities within the scope of the DOS/OIG/INV authorities. Maintained the highest standards of professionalism and respect for others. Completed and verified access requests for visitors requesting to enter facilities. Performed compound security assessments and provided security training assistance. Monitored public sources for threat-related information and verified material with Afghan security forces, and disseminate information affecting UNDP operations. As the National Security Associate for UNDP Afghanistan, I was responsible for gathering security information affecting UNDP operations throughout Afghanistan, and ensuring the information was accurate and disseminated in a timely manner to all staff members in order to safeguard UNDP Afghanistan staff and assets. Prepared annual training plans and ensured, 120 international and more than 650 national staff, enrolled in compulsory security & safety training (including online training).
