Screens patients to identify required precautionary measures and contra-indications prior to PET/CT and CT clinical procedures. Performs direct and indirect injections of radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media, and starts IVs. Educates patients about possible side effects and tends to all patient reactions and complications. Trains and precepts new staff. Complies with all applicable governmental and hospital regulations and policies pertaining to emergency care, radiation safety, patient safety, documentation and reporting requirements. Also, responsible for computer/data entry, on-site maintenance and equipment calibration. Consults with and reports to physicians and works proficiently with other medical staff. 2011- present Nuclear Medicine/Nuclear Cardiology/Radiologic Technologist Multi-modality Technologist Trinitas Regional Medical Center Elizabeth, NJ Manage indirect and direct venipuncture, blood draws and starts IVs for nuclear medicine studies on adults and children in both in-patient and outpatient settings. Prepares radiopharmaceuticals. Trains new staff and radiography program students in venipuncture and diagnostic procedures/studies. Collaborates with radiologists, cardiologists and other medical staff members before, during and after diagnostic procedures.
As Nuclear Cardiology Technologist, preps patients for tests and performs many of the same functions as above, including analyzing results, starting and reading EKGs. Responsible for performing nuclear scans, operating gamma cameras, processing images and analyzing scans utilizing state-of-the-art applications. Also, ensures the highest levels of Quality Control throughout all operations.
As a Radiologic Technologist, handles all standard X-Ray operations (in all necessary areas of the hospital) including DEXA Scans, OR, ER, endoscopy department. Recognized for excellent organization, communication, interpersonal and patient care skills.
