As one of the partners for this medical practice, I was one of the primary home health providers to evaluate and care for homebound patients. The emphasis of this practice was to bring quality healthcare to homebound patients in the areas of Dekalb, Atlanta, and Rockdale counties. By completing a physical examination and if necessary ordering medical equipment. And, if necessary completing tests such as EKGs or phlebotomy in the home and referring patients for further specialty testing: mammograms, x-rays, CAT scans. Within a 2 year period the total number of patients assigned the practices was 120 members. Because of the interpretation of the Georgia state law concerning a Physician Assistant owned practice vs Physician Assistants entering into a partnership with MDs, or Dos. My partners and I decided to close the practice based on the projected loss of revenue if all of the needed recommendations that were requested by the Composite Medical Board were to be implemented.
