Provided "demolition, hazmat and specialty contracting services" for many projects including: heritage building conversion and renovation to residential and commercial, seismic upgrades, interior renovations to institutional, commercial, industrial, warehouse and building envelope projects.
Successfully tendered and contracted the civil work: excavation, storm, sanitary, electrical and road building for numerous subdivisions (of up to 120 lots) and town house projects (up to 64 units).
Procured contracts for civil work (industrial and residential excavation, roadwork and utilities), complete and selective demolition, reconstruction and landscaping (multi-family, industrial and commercial), the removal of hazardous and contaminated materials (Asbestos, PCB, Wood Preservatives, Hydrocarbons, etc.) and the safe handling of waste through High Tech Incineration.
Many projects included arranging all the permits (building and environmental), doing the hazardous material assessments, providing engineered work procedures, traffic management and control, removing any hazardous materials, making architectural and structural alterations and/or razing the structure, clearing the site, backfilling excavations, landscaping and restoring the property.
Architectural and structural upgrades to WC Blair Wave Pool, Langley and Skytrain Lougheed Station, for the new Evergreen Line. Hazmat and Interior Renovation to Coast Hotel, Prince George. Structural and Surface Rehabilitation to 57,800 square foot suspended parking slab, BCLC Kamloops.
Other works include Hazmat and Interior Strip-outs of office, retail and warehouse space to make ready for reconstruction. Selective architectural and structural modifications to existing buildings including Lougheed Mall, Marine Building, Sealy Mattress Factory, Bentall Centre, Oceanic Plaza and many downtown hi-rise, offices, storefront, retail, restaurants, manufacturing and warehouse spaces.
Working with the architects Merrick (10) and Gomberoff Bell Lyon (5), the general contractor MetroCan Construction and Bogdonov Pao Associates designed and installed the aluminum railings for Parcel 5 ($ 695,000) and Parcel 10 ($ 750,000) for Millenium Water (Atheletes’ Village).
Worked with Canadian Food Inspection Agency and the Ministry of Environment for the destruction and incineration of 1,000,000 chickens (complete flock within the Lower Mainland) with Avian Flu.
Worked with Ministry of Environment, Greater Vancouver Regional District and the Corporation of Richmond for the cleanup of a contaminated wood waste dump with almost 100,000 cubic yards of contaminated material and construction debris at No. 6 Road and Steveston Highway, Richmond.
Worked with WCB (Workers Compensation Board) for the open air/machine demolition of 13 asbestos contaminated kilns at Canfor Eaburn Sawmill and cleanup and reclamation of the MacBlo Wood Preservative Plant, Queensborough, New Westminster.
Completed projects which include excavation for downtown office towers where we ocean dumped
(barged the spoil dirt). Excavation commercial buildings landfilling spoil. Reclaimed Eight (8) Acres of Fraser River Land and constructed an Award Winning Wildlife Habitat at Canfor Eburn Sawmill.
Cavan Contracting had all the required licenses and permits as issued by governing authorities for Handling and Transportation of Hazardous & Contaminated Materials, Ocean Dumping (Excavation Spoil & Gyproc), and the safe handling of wood waste and contaminated materials through High Tech Incineration: 200’ from schools/500’ from hospitals (province wide exception to burning ban).
