As the Trade Commissioner, Infrastructure, I provided advice and support to Indian companies doing business in Canada and Canadian companies doing business in India across a wide range of sectors including Transportation, Urban and Social Infrastructure and Construction. My responsibilities also included facilitating bilateral trade and investment between the two countries. I was also responsible for managing Canada’s relationships with International Financial institutions like the Asian Development Bank and the World Bank, and key financial institutions in both India and Canada. I was part of the core team that put together the visit of Hon’ble Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau to India in 2018. My key responsibilities included:

Conferences and Seminars: Organize inbound and outbound trade delegations and business missions focused on the infrastructure sector along specific thematic topics such as Smart Cities, urban infrastructure, infrastructure financing, and transportation to explore opportunities for Canadian companies. Cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships with key local contacts, corporate houses, buyers, distributors, agents, consultants, lawyers and accountants, institutions, NGOs, center and state level government agencies and trade associations. Maintaining a strong local network in Canada among federal and provincial level agencies, universities, industry associations and key organizations. During this period, I recruited firms and led the business delegations to the following events

o Canada-India Technology summit, 2017

o Vibrant Gujarat 2014, 2016

o Big Five Dubai 2016

o ITS World Congress, Montreal 2016

o ICOLD, Ottawa( International Commission of Large Dams), 2019 o Sustainable Hydro Power Conference in partnership with Govt of Nepal in Kathmandu, 2019

Providing advisory services: Advising Indian with investment related to investments in Canada and Canadian companies on the local political and economic context, the general regulatory environment, the trends and evaluation of current and future opportunities. I have also led the preparation of reports on Private-Public Partnerships, Smart Cities, Infrastructure Financing and Transportation.

Coordinating bilateral relationships: Providing coordination support for bilateral MoUs on Rail cooperation and Road Transport cooperation, in order to enhance trade and investment between the India and Canada. Key activities include facilitating knowledge exchange, maintaining contact between Canadian and Indian officials, coordinating working group meetings and the exchange of deliverables, preparing reports on progress and leading missions for specific events.

Coordination with the trade team, regional offices, headquarters, provinces and other government departments: As a “Sector Lead”, coordinating planning for annual sector activities and managing the results including reporting. Coordinating sector specific activities such as advisory work, events, missions, B2B meetings, working with industry associations customized reports, briefing notes and presentations. Developing and maintaining a list of investments by Canadian Financial institutions in India.

Marketing and communication: Developing sector communication strategy, sector specific promotional material and market briefing. Managing social media such as Twitter and LinkedIn for trade promotion.

Investments and R&D: Working closely with the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI); S&T and Innovation teams, along with provincial governments, on investment attraction and innovation partnership initiatives, events and outreach. Organize R&D and STI focused partnership development activities between Canadian and Indian institutes, academia and private sector players.

Familiarity with TCS internal systems and processes: Regular reporting and management of Strategia, Trio, Infobank, Wiki, Budget tool, Horizons. Key Achievements/outcomes

Cleantech Finland is a program instituted by the Finnish Government to promote Finnish Cleantech expertise across the globe. I led the Cleantech Finland Programme in India. My responsibilities were in three major components:

Supporting bilateral trade and investment - deepen the trade and investment engagement between India and Finland through several initiatives

Coordinated Invest in Finland Program in India for sectors such as automotive, cleantech and IT.

As the coordinator for bilateral cooperation agreement between India and Finland, identify opportunities and financial instruments for business and research and development.

Engaged with federal and state level government departments, Industry chambers, other trade commissions, and corporates in India.

Maintained strategic dialogue with key financial institutions in India and Finland for synergizing financing arrangements with cleantech investment opportunities in India. Strategic consulting for internationalization of Finnish SMEs - Finnish SMEs in maximizing opportunities in India by providing a range of business advisory services Clients included direct clients (mostly SMEs and some large enterprises), government funding agencies focusing on Cleantech, Energy and Environment sectors.

Engaged with Finish companies for developing project strategies, competitive benchmarking, opportunity analysis, entry strategies, industry forecasting, business research, partner searches, company establishment, channel development, marketing initiatives.

Achieved excellent client feedback for the research and support work given for setting up operations in India, development of efficient sales channel and partner network.

Co-created the online advisory platform (SOLVED.FI) which brought together experts from around the globe knowledge exchange.

Facilitated/led several reports on opportunity mapping covering Urban Design, Energy, Railways, Entertainment, Hospitals and Chemical Industry. Marketing and communication - enhance brand image of member companies through various the marketing and communication initiatives
