Project Title: Light Management Schemes for Thin Silicon Solar Cells by Using Bio-Mimetic Structures: Analysis & Optimization

Duration: 1 Year (Completed)

Project Outline: The most commonly used dominant semiconductor material in commercially available solar cell absorber layer silicon with a thickness of 150 - 250 m, in that 20-40% of solar cell cost came from the silicon material. In this work we mainly focused on reducing the thickness of the absorber layer (10 m) to minimize material cost and improving the maximum light collection inside the absorber layer effectively by Bio-inspired: Bio-mimetics

(Moth-Eye, & Cactus) various surface nano-texturing was used to collecting maximum incident l ight at wide (0, 30, 45, and 60-degrees) angle of incidences, by making the nano-texturing on top of the absorber layer maximum absorption incident l ight was collected inside the active layer of the solar cell, without being reflected.
