PROJECT:

Project Title : “Feasability of Solar-Geothermal power plant”

Semester : 2nd semester (B.Sc)

Duration : 3 months

Team Size : single

Organization : St. Philomena s College

Description :

Geothermal energy is the heat energy of the earth crust. In some areas of earth this energy can be accessed. There are two types of sources one in which ground water is present and it is heated where as the other source has no water. The principle here is to draw the hot ground water to parabolic dishes which are further heated by solar power (Parabolic dishes concentrate the sun s energy in an angle which is absorbed by the pipes attached there) and the steam produced is used to generate electricity.

The aim is to analyze the feasibility of hybrid power plant combining solar and geothermal energy using parabolic dish. The area of the solar power plant will reduce by 25% if it is combined with geothermal power.
