Overview

John has over 29 years’ experience across various sectors in the construction industry / including Petrochemical, Government MOD, Airports, London Underground, Nuclear, Football/Sports Stadiums, road bridges, land reclamation and Private Sector Commercial Projects. In more recent years John has gained extensive experience working within Major Projects and the Commercial Offices sector as a Senior Business unit leader, running a team of ESH managers across several high profile projects. (As outlined below) John is one of a limited number of people who has completed back to back projects with top down construction and implemented the HSE strategy, control measures and training implementation as if it were a mining/tunnelling project completing each project with zero incidents over a 4 year period. John has worked as, H&S Business Unit Leader, developing strategy and providing advanced risk management, assurance and compliance input at board level (direct reporting to board members), setting key performance indicators and advanced standards for the businesses with which he has supported. He has been an integral member of Safety Leadership Teams, focusing on graduated, measurable Health & Safety performance improvement and the development of initiatives to reduce work place injuries. He has been involved with the industry renowned Mace Group “Behavioural Management of Safety (BMoS)” and the “Safety First, Second Nature (SFSN)” program. John was appointed Head of HSSE on The Kingdom Tower project in Jeddah in 2013, KSA, by Dar Al Handasah, a 12km city and the tallest building in the world at 1 km in height, with overall responsibility for every aspect of Health, Safety and Environment, and reporting directly to Jeddah Economic Company CEO, (client and board members). John in dealing with the Ministry of Interior and Civil Defense was regarded as the focal point for government interaction on behalf of the client regarding all HSSE aspects for the project and region. John joined KEO international as the Lead Senior HSE for the Aspire program in Qatar 2015, to oversee the Aspire expansion project, which expanded in to a number of other projects such as TSE reverse osmosis plant and Kidzania edutainment centre .John is a very focused and committed individual who can work very well independently and who excels in a team environment of multi- cultural team members.

John Has since joined Louis Berger now WSP for the prestigious Ras Abu Aboud football stadium in 2017, situated at the south side of the city of Doha. This waterfront property will be the first of its kind a fully demountable steel and container structure. The waterfront will be part of the overall masterplan for a VVIP area and fully integrated docking and pedestrianized area. John is the main focal point for HSSE issues and day to day running within the project and to the external authorities and client representatives.

John has worked on a number of projects that have achieved fantastic Health & Safety records such as Heathrow Terminal 5, The Shard London Bridge, RBS Gogarburn. He has also been directly involved with safety leadership programmes that have resulted in the Mace Group winning some of the most coveted international Health & Safety and Environmental awards, including the British Safety Council “Sword of Honour” (for Health & Safety performance) and “Globe of Honour” (for Environmental performance) awards, only forty of which are awarded across the globe annually.

74 Acre project, major civil works, 350m long internal street 3 story high, with several external building, including 5 star hotel facility and all external works, including motorway, & new bridge. After 1 year full HSE responsibility was passed to me for site by Senior Management.

On completion of Gogarburn I was assigned to join

the integrated team at T5 this position soon grew and I was tasked with full responsibility of the BA CIP lounges fit out package 50 million pound fit out of 4 lounges within T5A and T5B. My role then expanded to include Terminal 3 construction works as a twin role looking after Principal Contractor and Logistics. (Direct client reports and Principal Contractor) The Shard & The Place, London Bridge: 1.2 Billion pound 2008-2012, (HSE Manager, Senior HSE Manager, Senior Business Unit Leader)

All aspects of construction from demolition of existing high rise buildings, explosive demolition, major civils, top down construction on both buildings all the way through to completion, Promoted to Senior Business Unit leader just before completion of the Place and went on to look after seven commercial buildings for a number of clients including crown estates building programme 175 million for whole Unit, direct board reporting, 8 direct reports, 48 indirect reports within the unit.
