Project Overview

The King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) is a development under construction, on a site adjoining King Fahed Road, Thumamah Road and the Northern Ring Road, in the Al Aqiq area of Riyadh. Since January 2016, the construction activities have been on hold with negligible upkeep. After this period of abandonment, a Contractor will mobilise and reintroduce materials, equipment and labour onto the site safely and strategically to complete the works and handover to the Employer including all relevant authorities as applicable.

This scope of works shall be read in conjunction with the contract documents including the following:

Design Drawings;

Technical Specifications and performance specifications August 2009;

Building Design Guidelines prepared by Henning Larsen Architect August 2008;

Final Concept Master Plan and design manual guidelines prepared by Shankland;

List of acceptable manufacturer and suppliers;

Design review requirement 2009; and

Bill of Quantities.

SCOPE OF PROJECT:

Due Diligence

The Contractor responsibilities will undertake due diligence on all the documents in Part 5 provided and all required site surveys to satisfy himself with the project status and make its own assessment on the remaining works to complete

The Contractor shall include all the above in its pricing consideration and project resources to comply with the prescribed duration. Contractor to assess any gap and inform the Employer accordingly during the due diligence period.

Technical considerations

As part of its responsibilities, the appointed Contractor shall:

Review and report on the current design solutions to confirm compliance current mandatory legislation and highlight areas that require possible re-design to comply with current legislation;

Since the site has been on hold for more than two years, and as part of the Stage 1 works, HSE works and Dilapidation Surveys were carried out, the Contractor shall continue to undertake the following tasks as part of the Completion Works:

Upkeep of cleaning and housekeeping as part of the Completion Works Scope of Works;

Pest control to eliminate the vermin infestations: for example, rats, mice, cockroaches or fleas; animal excreta and droppings;

Inspect the materials currently stored on site to establish suitability of use. All material deemed suitable shall be cleaned, re-instated and approved by the Engineers prior used; SITE RESPONSIBILITIES:

3. RIYADH METRO PROJECT:

SCOPE OF PROJECT:

The Riyadh Metro is a part of King Abdul-Aziz’s public transport project in Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), which consists of trains and buses which will create 6 main metro lines that Penetrate the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, from all directions. It includes 85 stations. The project cost $22.5 billion to build. The Riyadh metro is a rapid transit system. The project includes the implementation of 6 railway lines stretching 176 kilometers. It runs on electricity. The trains are operated without drivers. It is the largest project for the public transportation system in the world.

The project has the approval of the award of four major stations' contracts located at the intersection subway tracks and buses and had fulfilled the designs of the metro security requirements and safety of passengers and facilities project.

The project includes the construction of an advanced center for the control and operation of the train traffic management and control and monitor all elements of the system of stations and tracks and facilities and systems and will provide the center with the latest operating control and monitoring systems.

The BACS Consortium is responsible for the design and builds of Lines 1 and 2 of the Riyadh metro network. These two lines will form part of the six-line metro system that will run for a total length of 176 kilometers across the city and includes 85 stations. BACS Consortium is fully responsible for the design and integration of the transit systems and the civil infrastructure. Working from the Employers Requirements, the BACS consortium will manufacture, furnish, install, test and commission all components related to both the transit systems and the civil infrastructure.

Line 1 will stretch from north to south through the center of Riyadh, along the Olaya-Batha corridor, covering 38 kilometers. The line will include 22 stations and 4 transfer stations where it will connect with other new metro lines. Much of Line 1 will be underground. Line 2 will run east to west along King Abdullah Road and will be built mostly at grade (15km) with some elevated sections. This line will run east to west and will extend more than 25 kilometers with 13 stations and 3 transfer stations.

SITE RESPONSIBILITIES:

As a site engineer, your input to construction projects will be technical, organizational and supervisory. You'll set out and determine the location for infrastructural installations, both above and below ground, and will apply designs and plans to mark out the site. You'll also share responsibility for site security, health and safety and the organization and supervision of material and human resources.
