●EXPERIENCE
Acupuncture Relief Project Bajrabarahi, Nepal November 2019 - December 2019
Volunteer
While volunteering for the non-profit, ARP, for 7 weeks I have gained a tremendous amount of experience serving the people of rural Nepal. We work 6 days a week as primary care providers helping to evaluate patient medications, refer to other providers, to get imaging, or blood/urine test at the local lab. We also treat patients with acupuncture, massage, herbs and over the counter medication. Here we get a whole picture of the patient's health, do a proper evaluation obtaining subjective and objective measures, coming to a western and eastern diagnosis, setting up a treatment plan to hit our expected measurable outcomes and inform our patients of our plan and our prognosis.
OCOM CLINIC Portland, Oregon September 2016 - August 2019
Intern
While working for two years as an acupuncture intern I practiced needling, cupping, moxa, preparing and prescribing herbal formulas and tuina massage while serving Portland, Oregon’s downtown community. Learning to properly interview, diagnose and develop treatment plans has allowed me to better serve 375 people, affording me a tremendous practical learning experience.
Gathering Together Farms Portland, Oregon October 2011 - September 2019
Farmers market sampler/set up
I helped set up beautiful organic produce displays, restock the produce throughout the day, and cook creative, seasonal veggie dishes for customers to try. I was able to share recipes, discuss health and food related topics, and sell more vegetables in the process.
United States Coast Guard Portland, Oregon August 2011 - August 2015
Marine Science Technician
I would conduct a thorough inspection of forgeign freight vessels when they entered U.S. waterways in order to help them achieve the safety standards set forth by the SOLAS convention. My attention to detail and systematic approach to gathering data has greatly impacted my ability to help people achieve their health goals as an acupuncturist. Also, my experience communicating with international crew members has taught me a great deal about cultural variability and sensitivity.
Self Employed Portland, Oregon March 2014 - August 2015
Personal Trainer
My responsibilities were to listen to my clients goals and develop a plan to achieve those goals using exercise and diet. My passion to help people is highlighted when working with people in the gym. The encouragement and attention given to each trainee makes for a fun and productive time.
