Conducts installation of ducts and conduits, pulling cables, terminating, testing, splicing, and repairing copper, coaxial, and fiber optic cabling. Maintains the installation of outside and interior copper and fiber cabling, fiber optic modems, fiber multiplex equipment, fiber patch panels, analog and digital copper patch panels, main and intermediate distribution frames, lightning protection, and supporting ground and power connections. Install, activate, troubleshoot and repair POTS telephone, fiber, and cat 5/6 cable networks to ensure efficient military communications. Survey dig sites and approve permits, locate underground fiber connections for future installations.

Applies Modification Work Orders (MWO's) to upgrade military telecommunications equipment and affiliated components. Knowledgeable in the operations of hardware systems and components. Able to identify and process fault detection, isolation, and correction of hardware systems and individual components plus performs hardware and software repair, replacement, troubleshoot, installation and over the shoulder training support for the Warfighter Information Network-Tactical Increment 1 (WIN-T Inc 1). The WIN-T Inc 1 is a communications network that provides the Army Warfighter with voice, data and video capabilities for use in a tactical environment, utilizing primarily commercial off-the-shelf equipment. Supports field installation/upgrades, technical support along with maintenance support, and fielding support.
