My roles and responsibilities :

The Floor Man position in responsible for supporting the oil and gas operations. The position is diverse and may vary on a daily basis. The Floor Man works with equipment he is qualified to operate such as backhoe, Caterpillar, maintainer, forklift, trencher, trucks and trailer, water trucks, picker truck, vacuum truck, and so forth. Assemble for repair oil field equipment using hand and power tools.

Assisting in mixing and conditioning the drilling mud for the drill bit.

Rabbi ting of casing pipe and clean up all the treads from pin to box or both sides or pipe

Unloading equipment - ensuring slings are in good working order and checks shackles to ensure they are tight and stay out of a pinch point / use tag lines on loads.

Cleaning the generator, store and pump rooms, the pipe rack, key way, rail ways, stair ways and walk ways.

Chipping paint and buffs it, occasionally relieves the roughneck on the floor, puts pipe on catwalks -- V --door (lay down pipe), greases the crane and assists the service hands in rigging up tools, Fuels the rig, monitors hole fill-ups while pulling out of hole, lining up trip tank, measures pipe, and ensures all safety and riding belts to make sure they are in good condition

Duties of Floor Man

Clean up spilled oil by bailing it into barrels.

Unscrew or tighten pipes, casting, tubing, and pump rods, using hand and power wrenches and tongs.

Bolt together pump and engine parts.

Walk flow lines to locate leaks, using electronic detectors and making visual inspections.

Move pipes to and from trucks, using truck winches and motorized lifts, or by hand.

Dismantle and repair oil field machinery, boilers, and steam engine parts, using hand tools and power tools.

Dig drainage ditches around wells and storage tanks.

Keep pipe deck and main deck areas clean and tidy.

Guide cranes to move loads about decks.

Supply equipment to rig floors as requested, and provides assistance to roughnecks.
