Worked on the project entitled as “Evaluating the efficacy of Persea americana extracts for its antiurolithiatic and periodontal activities”.
Medicinal plants/natural products are more useful for body because they promote the repair mechanism in natural way. Persea americana commonly known as Avocado belonging to Lauraceae family of West Indian race, which are widely used for their Nutritive and Medicinal properties. The present study was aimed to determine the efficacy of methanolic Peel and Seed extracts for its antiurolithiatic activity and a novel protagonist in periodontal healing. Urolithiasis is one such complex process that occurs from series of several physiochemical events including Super-saturation, nucleation, growth, aggregation and retention with in kidney’s and Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease of the supporting tissues of the teeth which is caused by complex interaction between various micro-organisms involving gram –ve and gram +ve aerobic pathogens namely S.aureus, E.coli, E.areogens. Result from this study shows the Peel and Seed extracts are comparatively effective in dissolving calcium oxalate in in-vitro model with respect to periodontitis, the extracts were more effective in inhibiting the growth of S.aureus and equally effective against E.coli. Therefore we could conclude that phototherapeutic agents can be useful adjunct therapy in the management of urolithiasis and periodontitis. PLATFORM PRESENTATIONS:
