I graduated from the Emory University Physician Assistant Program in 1999. I’ve always worked in Orthopedics since graduation. I’ve performed all of the tissue and skin closures for our cases including the major joint replacement cases. My case census would have to be over 3000 throughout my career. In addition, my injection count would be estimated at 8,000-10,000. I’m currently pursuing how to give ultrasound guided injections in the office for pain relief. We have 7 PAs in the office and none have shown interest or have been supported by the office Physicians to pursue the training. I'm responsible for all the patient wounds and post op care visits. I really enjoy and take great pride in seeing how pleased my patients are when they see my minimal post operative scar after surgery. I'm very proud of my surgical and clinical outcomes. My patients tell me that their physical therapists recognize my work when they see the postoperative scar from our total joints. In addition, most patients over the years have found pain relief with my injection procedures. Many patients see me on a regular basis. I’ve known many of them for years. They’ve come to trust me, and continually send me referrals. The is the highest progressional compliment I can earn with my patients. Medicine was my second career. I taught Anatomy and Physiology for 8 years with my first Masters degree in Applied Physiology. I earned the degree from Ball State University in Indiana. I completed this degree on a full tuition waiver graduate assistantship. Upon graduation, i went on to be the Program Director for an Applied Exercise Science degree program for 6 years in a small College in South Georgia. State cut backs and limited funding curbed my academic career and forced me to pursue new interests. Hence, starting my PA training and career, and I’ve never looked back. I’m definitely interested in finding out more about this position. I look forward to the possibility of meeting and discussing how I may help the practice be successful and profitable. Thank you again for sharing your time and consideration in my pursuit for employment within your Organization.
