A two-year study conducted Schenectady Community Collage looked at the effects of soil nutrients on the populations of predators and amphibians in the aquatic ecology of Vale Park. Water samples were examined for hardness, pH, iron, phosphates, nitrates, chlorine, and sulfides using a Spectrophotometer and PCR. Microbes from five different water sources—including the Aegean Sea—were shown to be possibly contaminated by environmental metals.
