Experience: Graduated from accredited school of nursing program in 1975 Have been practicing since, with the exception of pregnancies and surgery . Worked Medical/Surgical units a team leader. members duties included making walking rounds with the previous shift, report with all team members, via recorded and verbal methods. Organize priorities for the day, make assignments which include, breaks
, lunch,weights,showers .any special needs . Assess resident on rounds while administering medicines
(P.O., I, V. I.M etc.)and treatment,,such as wound dressing, nebulizer treatment .Pre and Post op care . Transcribe orders in timely manner, Attend care plan when scheduled,Which in part included patient and family education. Review of medicine therapies needed. P/T O/T. Speech . Ventilator Unit; Learned of different types of ventilators, even worked with resident who had an Iron lung This Device was on the outside of body which did the breathing for resident Worked close with respiratory therapist in providing care the patient care. including suctioning, weaning off ventilator, trachea care .Administer breathing treatments, identifying breath sounds . Maintain isolation standards as most of these patients would develop Upper respiratory infections. Involved with major move of resident from South Baltimore General hospital to the new Deaton facility This was the first ventilator unit in the Baltimore area . The Army Reserve Medical unit was utilized the transferring of resident,via army vehicle,as we worked as a team, manually bagging and getting resident settled in, Wow what an experience .Everyone was assigned 1 resident from beginning to end meeting all needs Visiting Nurse Association ; Home visits . Prepared to see resident . Planned day in advance by, Priorty, locale. And needs, often called for visits that may have been added on or unplanned. Make cake call in advance to prepare for visit.make sure aware of visit, and timing is beneficial. Verify address and any special needs, that might exsist. Such as removing pets, special accommodations to get into the home etc. Educate, have literature available for patient education .Demonstration may be needed, be prepared .Record time spent . Make sure resident understands what visit was about before leaving and information incurred . F/U with questions /answer period, Do Not rush through visit During visit review e medicines make changes if necessary, call for refills . Call providers and stay in contact with supervisors,so every one is on same page.
Past several years, worked various Long Term Care and Rehabilitation Centers as well as retirement center. Duties include Obtaining report, make assignment, often rearranging assignment for what ever reason, Make sure team members are given report, Prioritize day bby getting pertinent information, such as appointment,special orders showers, weights etc. Continue on with administering of medicines treatments and assessment as rounding, all while noting any change,abnormalities . F/U with labs and report to provider if needed, transcribe orders and notify family or R.P when necessary, document findings for that day .Order test . F/U with results and more .
